Fall Napkin Dollar Store Pumpkin Makeover
This Dollar Store Pumpkin makeover is in bright traditional fall colors using a pretty floral fall napkin and Mod Podge.
This fall for some reason I have been distracted by crafting Dollar Store pumpkin makeovers. I am using this bright and colorful DIY Fall Pumpkin in my Fall Coffee Bar display this year.
Fall is my favorite time of the year. The weather is perfect. You have Thanksgiving and Halloween in the Fall. Football returns and there are pumpkins and colorful leaves everywhere.
We can bring some of those fall feels indoors with fall decorating and what better way to do that than a few home décor DIY projects like this DIY Fall Pumpkin makeover.

It doesn’t get much more simple than just a few supplies for a pretty addition to your fall décor. I also used these colorful napkins to make this Fall Luminary Vase.
How To Decoupage A Napkin To A Styrofoam Pumpkin
Supplies
- Dollar Tree Styrofoam Pumpkin
- Pretty Fall Napkins
- Mod Podge
- Jute for the stem
Step 1 Apply the napkin to the pumpkin
This really is an easy craft. It is just a matter of either cutting or tearing the napkin into workable pieces and gluing them to the pumpkin using Mod Podge.
Making small cuts along the way helps to keep the wrinkles to a minimum. It isn’t very difficult to match up the pattern. I usually do small sections at a time applying small amounts of Mod Podge to the pumpkin and smoothing the napkin onto it. It’s easier to smooth out the wrinkles when you do small sections.
Pro Tips
Most of these decorative paper napkins are in two layers. Gently, peel apart the layers of the napkin before beginning. You only want to glue the decorative top layer onto the pumpkin.
If you do not want the orange color of the pumpkin to show through, then you can paint the pumpkin white first. Allow it to dry completely before gluing the napkin on.
Match the pattern on the napkin
One of the great things about using decorative napkins for dollar store pumpkin makeovers is that it only takes a couple. Each package of napkins contains more than enough so go ahead and match your patterns which will create some waste.
Allow ample drying time after applying the napkins to the pumpkin. Then I cover the exterior with about three coats of Mod Podge allowing each coat to dry before adding the next. This serves as a sealer and leaves a nice shine.
Step 2 Cover the stem
The stem is covered with jute and the top of the pumpkin is embellished with a couple of faux leaves you can also find at Dollar Tree.
I painted the stem on the pumpkin with a generous amount of Mod Podge and wrapped the stem around and around until the stem was completely hidden. Jute gives the stem a rustic touch.
