It’s Day 10 and we are sharing our Christmas Tree!

Last Christmas we had a live ten foot tree in this corner which you can see here. This year we decided to go with an artificial tree as they are just so much easier to deal with in many ways. I have a Scentsy Warmer burning the Christmas Tree scent and that will simply have to do for that bringing a tree indoors smell!

One important factor to consider when decorating large Christmas trees or even if you are decorating multiple trees is how to stretch the ornaments. This year I am using Ribbons and Bows for that purpose.

I shared our upstairs Traditional Christmas Tree at this year’s Christmas Tree Blog Hop. I am really in the red mood this year so in order to use mostly red ornaments on both trees my new toy, the Bowdabra came to the rescue!

Let me back up. While on vacation this year, we saw gorgeously decorated Christmas Trees at the Christmas Store in Calabash N.C. I snapped a couple pictures to commit the idea to memory, bought myself a Bowdabra and picked up way too much ribbon at Sam’s Club.

Once the holiday season got in full swing I started seeing lots of Christmas trees covered in ribbon and bows and wondered why I have never noticed before.

Poinsettia have also been on my radar this holiday season. This is one I made like those I sent to my Ornament Exchange Partner this year.

The JOY ornament is one of a set of four I received from my Ornament Exchange partner this year. Go here to see all of this year’s DIY Ornaments for the 2018 Ornament Exchange.

The kitten skiing with the letter C is probably almost 40 years old. It is from my oldest daughter’s childhood. Hanging onto those heirloom ornaments is fun and sparks conversations among my children every year. My trees are covered not only with my ornaments but those I inherited from my Mom as well.

A close look at the center of the tree reveals a lone ornament sporting the Pink Ribbon. My niece is battling breast cancer this year. I lost my Mom to breast cancer in 2013. I decided to create an ornament this year in memory and honor of the battle in my family. You can find that easy tutorial here.

This year I am using two Santa style blankets together as my tree skirt. The cats love soft blankets as much as I do. They think all blankets are brought  out just for them.

  1. Your whole living room is so Christmasy and cozy! I love the cat looking at the tree in the one picture. The bows are amazing and I just love those old heirloom ornaments. Merry Christmas!

  2. This room is so beautiful and especially cozy with the cats lying under the tree. I haven’t had a multicolored tree for 30 years, but I really love this one. It’s rich and elegant, it must be amazing to look at in the room.

  3. I love the ribbons and bows, Shirley. They help to make the tree look so full and lush. I might have to look into getting a Bowdabra, too. Our family tree that is a hodgepodge of all things Christmas would look great with lots of bows.

We enjoying hearing from you!
