Equipment

  • 1 large saucepan
  • 2 small microwave safe bowls
  • 1 wooden spoon
  • 2 9 inch pie pans
  • 1 Large measuring cup
  • Parchment paper for easy cleanup of work surface

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter
  • 10 oz. mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups yellow candy melts
  • 2 cups orange candy melts
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Spray two 9 inch pie pans with non stick cooking spray and set aside. Cover a workspace on your counter with parchment paper or disposable counter covers, like these.
  • In a large saucepan, add the butter and melt over low heat until completely melted. Then add the 6 cups marshmallows to the melted butter and stir constantly until completely melted. Now add the vanilla and stir. Then add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well mixed together.
TIP: Stir with a wooden spoon you have sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
  • Now, divide the cereal mixture into both prepared pie pans. flatten out evenly with oiled hands or the bottom of a measuring cup.
  • Place in the fridge for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Then remove and allow the Rice Crispies Treats to sit on the counter and come to room temperature while you melt the candy melts for decoration.
  • Place candy melts in different microwave-safe bowls with yellow melts in one and orange melts in the other. Then, one color at a time, set the microwave-safe bowl into the microwave and melt the candies on high heat, stirring every 15 seconds until almost completely melted. Stop heating when the candy melts are almost all melted. Remove from the microwave and continue to stir as the residual heat finishes the melting process.
Do not overheat. If the candy is too thick, add vegetable shortening or vegetable oil in 1 teaspoon increments, up to 1 tablespoon, and stir well.
  • Now, flip the pie pans over onto your parchment paper work surface and the Rice Krispie circle should be able to come right out, If not, use a knife to run along the edge of the circle and it should come loose and fall out.
Slice like cutting a cake into six even triangles.
  • Now, dip the pointed end of each triangle Rice Kripsy Treat into the melted yellow candy and scrape off any excess using a butter knife. Then turn it around and dip the top piece (the wide end) into the orange melted candies and scape off excess. Lay on the parchment paper to dry. Then continue the process until all six candy corn rice krispie treats are done.
  • Allow your adorable Candy Corn Krispie Treats to harden while the melted candy cools for about 10 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
