Begin your baking, no-bake desserts, or big cooking projects with disposable counter covers for quick and easy clean-up.
These disposable counter sheets have been such a blessing for quick clean-up when I’m making something with lots of ingredients or something like these decorated Rice Krispies Treats.
As I was making these sweet treats, I lined them across the top of the disposable counter covers to dry. I spilled candy sprinkles. I dripped candy melts and made a big mess in the process. But when I was done, I simply balled up the counter cover and tossed it into the trash can. I love the easy clean-up.

Prepare your workspace and gather all of the ingredients and tools. I recommend using the disposable counter covers mentioned above.
If you are using large Rice Krispies Treats as I did, cut them in half and line them up for decorating.
Hint about Rice Krispies Treats
They come in a variety of sizes depending on where you buy the package. Some are larger than others. The lunch size is sort of small. You decide if you want to cut them in half based on the size of the treats you buy.
Melt the candy melts in a medium microwave-safe bowl following the directions on the bag.
You will run your microwave at half power because melting candies is a delicate operation. If you go too fast, the candy melts will seize and have to be thrown away. It is best to go slow in about 15-second increments stirring after each time. Once there are only tidbits remaining, don’t continue to microwave, just keep stirring and the residual heat will melt the rest.
Dip your little monsters into the melted candy chips and use the spatula to smooth out the surface. I like leaving the little monster treats a little bumpy for fun.
Then add the candy sprinkles and candy eyeballs while the candy frosting is still wet. The melted candy frosting acts as the glue to hold the hair and eyes in place.
Add the mouth using squeeze gel icing after the candied frosting has dried and set aside your adorable little edible monsters to allow the mouth to dry. Once dry, they are ready to serve!
How to store candy-coated Rice Krispies treats
Store your decorated monster rice crispy treats in an airtight container at room temperature on the counter for about 3 days.
You can store them in the refrigerator for about 5 days in an airtight container.
Can Rice Krispies Monsters be made a day early?
Yes, they can. Because they are so easy to store, you can make these adorable Halloween treats a day ahead of your event.
Making Halloween Rice Krispie Treats is so much fun. The kids can help! You can decorate your little krispy treat monsters any way you like using your imagination and edible decorations. They are great for Halloween parties.
