Prepare your workspace and gather all of the ingredients and tools.
If you are using large prepackaged Rice Krispies Treats as I did, cut them in half and line them up for decorating. They come in a variety of sizes depending on where you buy the package. Some are larger than others. The lunch size is sort of small. You decide if you want to cut them in half based on the size of the treats you buy.
Melt the candy melts in a medium microwave-safe bowl following the directions on the bag.You will run your microwave at half power because melting candies is a delicate operation. If you go too fast, the candy melts will seize and have to be thrown away. It is best to go slow in about 15-second increments stirring after each time. Once there are only tidbits remaining, don’t continue to microwave, just keep stirring and the residual heat will melt the rest.
Dip your little monsters into the melted candy chips and use the spatula to smooth out the surface. I like leaving the little monster treats a little bumpy for fun. Then add the candy sprinkles and candy eyeballs while the candy frosting is still wet. The melted candy frosting acts as the glue to hold the hair and eyes in place.
Add the mouth using squeeze gel icing after the candied frosting has dried and set aside your adorable little edible monsters to allow the mouth to dry. Once dry, they are ready to serve!
