August Menu Plan Week 4

Your weekly menu plan for the last week of August is ready for a good week of dinner ideas. A grocery list for each entrée is included along with side dishes and a few ideas for desserts to make at home.

I have included a Football Friday night meal that the kids will love. There is a whole foods meal and two meals from one chicken. A great week of dinner recipes.

August Meal Plan Week 4

1. Homemade Chicken and Dumplings

This easy recipe for Homemade Chicken and Dumplings is great because we are going to save some of the fresh boiled chicken for the next day’s dinner, plus enjoy a hearty meal. It’s a cheat recipe because I use the best brand of frozen dumplings. PLUS, this is a one-pot meal.

NOTE: Buy a larger hen so you can save some of the cooked chicken (about 1/3) for tomorrow night’s dinner. Store the cooked chicken covered in the refrigerator.

2. Homemade Chicken Pot Pie

This delicious Chicken Pot Pie recipe is easy to make and very satisfying to the taste buds. It is loaded with vegetables and is a perfect comfort food.

NOTE: Use chicken from the hen you boiled yesterday for the Chicken and Dumplings.

3. Roasted Maple Apple Pork Loin

A fairly simple pork loin recipe baked in the oven, drenched with flavorings and maple syrup. Sweet onions and apples are baked with the meat for a delectable combination of flavors with fiber.

4. Shrimp Fried Rice

Shrimp Fried Rice is surprisingly easy to make at home. You can substitute cooked, chopped chicken for the shrimp if you like. This dish is good leftover the next day for lunch. We love to use this Yum Yum sauce with ours.

Crockpot Maple Beans and Franks easy recipe

7 Crockpot Beans and Franks

Kids love this meal. I grew up eating this simple recipe. Mom cooked it in a pot on top of the stove. I prefer to simmer it in the Crockpot while I do other things. Bonus: This meal is easy on the budget.

Sides Dishes

  • Chicken and Dumplings don’t really need a side dish, but it’s a good night to enjoy this simple recipe for Pear and Cherry Salad.
  • No side dish is needed for Chicken Pot Pie because the meat, veggies, and bread are all cooked together. Make a dessert tonight! See the list below.
  • Heat your favorite green beans as a side dish for your Pork Loin. We love these Italian Green beans.
  • A batch of this Honey Wheat Bread recipe is a great side to serve this week with several of these meals.
  • Baked potatoes are the perfect and easiest side dish for grilled steaks. See this list of toppings for baked potatoes. I recommend a bagged salad from the produce department to complete the Steak dinner meal.
  • Chili Cheese Tater Tots go well with Crockpot Beans and Franks.
