It’s my Mom’s recipe. Did she always buy bagged mix? No. Back in the old days, she used an old box grater to shred the cabbage. Then she graduated to a food processor. Eventually, she found a bag of coleslaw mix at the grocery store and life got easier.
You have my blessing to buy a head of cabbage and start from scratch if you like. Personally, I love recipe shortcuts.
Use the creamy coleslaw dressing recipe with your own shredded cabbage and carrots if you like.
