How To Make This Elf Entrance Sign Christmas Tree Ornament
Changing all of our Christmas tree decorations to Elf decorations meant there would be some DIY Ornaments this year. This Elf sign ornament was made using a Dollar store blank and my Cricut Maker.
Here is our Elf Themed Christmas Tree to inspire a more festive spirit for the Christmas of 2020, a year which has truly ‘stink, stank, stunk’.
Apparently I was really in the Elf mood this year because I also made this cute Elf Cam Mug using my Cricut. Another easy Cricut project using Dollar store blanks.

Paint the Arrow Sign
First I painted the Arrow sign white, front and back and I gave it about three coats allowing drying time between each.
Notice this little unfinished arrow blank from Dollar Tree already has a couple holes for hanging. There was a jute string attached and I removed it to make my design. Once done I replaced that jute with a cute Red and White candy stripe string I found on clearance at Michael’s.
Tape Off The Stripes To Paint
I used Masking tape because it was handy in my craft room to mark off the stripes before painting. You can use painters tape or whatever easy to remove tape you have on hand.
Thank goodness for the tape because I sure cannot paint a straight line! It took about three coats of red before I was satisfied with the depth of the color. Notice this Dazzling Metallics Festive red has some shimmer to it which I love for a Christmas tree ornament.
This Elf entrance sign ornament needs to pop on the Christmas Tree and not just blend into my Elf themed tree decorations. I decided to make it a little like a marquee with blingy dots and of course I used Holiday Green paint and topped that with a DecoArt Galaxy Glitter paint later on during the process.
Time To Make The Elf Entrance Words Using Cricut
Font
I knew I wanted a cute font for my Elf sign and I fell in love with Baylac Original for this purpose. It seems perfect for an Elf Christmas Ornament.
One of the things about using the Cricut to design your own things is how easy that process can be. I literally held my sign up to my computer screen to make sure the sizing of the words was correct to fit on the sign. There isn’t much science to this method and it works like a charm.
Print your design. Weed the words off and apply to your sign. Notice my gold vinyl is not glittery so I decided to use my Glitter Paint writer to make it glittery.
I squeezed tiny little bits of the clear glitter paint at a time on each letter and used a very small paint brush to spread it out. The process only took a few minutes and I was quite happy with the results.
This cute Elf Entrance sign ornament is hanging right next to a group of Elf legs on the tree which appear to be diving into the tree. I told my little young nephew the elves had a secret passage way to get to Santa at the North Pole so they could make toys. Oh what fun!
If you can’t find the arrow sign at Dollar Tree, you can order online and pick up in store or have it delivered to your home from Dollar Tree. That is the best way to be sure you will get those popular items that disappear quickly.
