Tools Used
- Electric mixer
- Large mixing bowl
- Medium mixing bowl
- Rubber spatula or wooden spoon
- Large cookie sheet
- Cooling racks
Ingredients
The baking ingredients for making chocolate chip cookies are common pantry staples mostly. Makes just over two dozen cookies.
- 1 stick unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1/4 cup margarine (room temperature)
- 3/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract, I use this brand
- 1 egg
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 ( 3 oz.) box of instant vanilla pudding
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chip morsels
- 1 1/2 cups red and green M&M candies (buy at Walmart)
Directions
Step 1
In a medium bowl, add the flour, soda, salt and dry pudding mix. Stir to blend and set aside.

Step 2
In a large bowl beat the butter, margarine, brown sugar and sugar with your electric mixer on medium speed until nice and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla and blend together.
Step 3
Now, add the dry ingredients and continue to mix on a higher speed until well blended.
Step 4
Stir in the semi sweet chocolate chips and half of the red and green candies. Fold it all together with the rubber spatula or wooden spoon until well blended throughout the cookie dough. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours or overnight.
Baking tip
I spray my wooden spoon with non-stick cooking spray before using in cookie dough batter.
Step 5 Baking the cookies
Preheat your oven to 350° .Prepare you baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

Step 6
Remove the cookie dough from the refrigerator. Begin forming the cookies using about 1 1/2 tablespoons of dough per cookie. Roll into a ball between your hands and place the cookie dough ball onto the prepared baking pan spaced about two inches apart. You can use a cookie scoop or a big spoon.
The dough should be firm and more tall than wide. You should be able to get about 12 cookies per pan with three per row.

Step 7
Bake for about 10-11 minutes or until done. Remove from the oven and immediately place a few more red and green M&Ms and chocolate morsels into the hot cookies before they cool. Then allow the cookies to cool on a cooling rack.
Baking tip
Use two baking sheets so that when one comes out of the oven, the other can go in. You need to allow the baking pan to completely cool before adding cookie dough. A hot pan will affect how the cookies bake.
Carefully remove to an airtight container to store on the kitchen counter after the cookies are completely cooled.

Storage
These chocolate chip cookies can be stored at room temperature on the kitchen counter in an airtight container for about 3-5 days. Homemade chocolate chip cookies do not last long at my house. Do they disappear quickly at your house too?
