I found this recipe in my cookbook collection. Don’t you enjoy looking through your holiday cookbooks sometimes? You never know what jewel you may find!
Taste of Home’s Holiday & Celebrations Cookbook 2001 is where I found the original recipe. Of course, I made changes to the recipe to suit my family’s preferences. Feel free to use just one type of nut or mix the different types of nuts you prefer. I am thinking these would be good with pistachios or cashews too!

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter

- 2 Tbsp. honey
- 1/4 cup Half & Half
- 2/3 Cup each; slivered almonds chopped walnuts and chopped pecans
Directions

Step 1
Line a 9×9 or 7×11 pan with parchment paper for easy cleanup. You can continue to bake on the same piece of parchment paper through several batches of cookies.
Step 2
Blend together the flour and sugar in a large mixing bowl.
Step 3
Cut the 3/4 cup of softened butter into the flour mixture, until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Step 4
Press the flour mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan until it is nice and firm.
Step 5
Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes.
Make the filling
Step 1
In a heavy saucepan, heat the brown sugar, honey, and 1/4 cup butter until completely dissolved and it begins to boil. Boil for only 1 minute.
Step 2
Remove from heat and stir in the Half & Half and nuts. STir to coat the nuts well with the caramelized mixture.
Step 3
Pour the mixtures over the crust and spread well.
Step 4
Bake at 350° until nut mixture is bubbly hot, about 12-20 minutes depending on your oven.
Step 5
Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack. Then place in refrigerator for about 30 minutes to set before cutting.
Cut using a sharp knife. Serve and enjoy.

Fun!! Pinning for a party we have coming up 🙂 Love them!
They look good enough to eat right off the screen!
I do like all the nuts in there, but am having trouble with teeth at the moment, so I’d either have to take a long time eating, or eat a slice whole! 😉
