This recipe makes a restaurant-quality iron skillet chocolate chip cookie. Soft baked cookies are always the best in my opinion and this one tops them all. It’s the best ever chocolate chip cookie in a pan.

Ingredients

We use a well-seasoned cast-iron skillet to make this favorite dessert for any occasion.

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 325° and prepare a 10-inch iron skillet with nonstick spray.

Step 2

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt and set aside.

Step 3

Chop the chocolate bars into big chunks as shown. Using chocolate chunks instead of chocolate chips makes this the ultimate skillet chocolate chip cookie for gooey cookie lovers, like me.

Step 4

In a large bowl, cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and creamy. Should take about 5 minutes.

You can use the bowl of a stand mixer for this step.

Step 5

Add the egg and vanilla extract and continue beating.

Step 6

Add in the flour mixture and continue beating until well mixed.

Step 7

Now fold in the chocolate chunks not all of them. Save some to melt on top.

Pour the batter into your prepared iron skillet and spread evenly. Top with the remaining chocolate chunks and put the cast iron pan into the hot oven.

Bake for about 50 to 55 minutes or until done. Should be nice and golden brown.

Allow your fresh-baked cookie to rest about 10 before serving.

  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 (4 oz. ea.) semi sweet chocolate bars, chopped

  6. Add in the flour mixture and continue beating until well mixed.
  7. Now fold in the chocolate chunks not all of them. Save some to melt on top.
  8. Pour the batter into your prepared iron skillet and spread evenly. Top with the remaining chocolate chunks and put the cast iron pan into the hot oven.
  9. Bake for about 50 to 55 minutes or until done. Should be nice and golden brown.
  10. Allow your fresh-baked cookie to rest about 10 before serving. Cutting it too soon while the chocolate is hot might be messy. Let it cool a bit first.

Notes

This giant chocolate chip cookie is good with vanilla ice cream on top. You can even drizzle chocolate syrup or caramel syrup over top of the ice cream if you like.
