Sunday Dinner Roast Beef and Menu Plan #12
Our Sunday Dinner Roast Beef recipe brings back memories of Sunday dinners at Momma’s house. I cook it just like I learned from my Mom.
We cooked a whole lot of roast beef with this recipe for my parents 50th anniversary celebration a few years ago. There were no leftovers.
We make roast beef more affordable by getting two meals from our roast. You just need to buy a little bit larger roast to make it happen.
- 2-3 lb. Top Round Roast
- 3 cans beef gravy
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- Place your roast into an oven roaster pan which has been either sprayed or lined with foil and sprayed.
- Pour the gravy over the roast.
- Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Cook, covered in preheated oven at 325° for about 3 to 31/2 hours for well done. Use your meat thermometer to check as oven temperatures vary.
- Slice, serve and enjoy!
Roast Beef Sandwiches using leftovers from Sunday dinner.
Crabmeat Stew can be made in the crockpot or on the stove.
Mandarin Orange Salad with Mandarin Orange Dressing
Swedish Meatballs served on noodles is an easy one dish dinner to prepare. Be sure to freeze some meatballs for tomorrow’s dinner.
Our BBQ Meatball Hoagie sandwiches are made with the same meatball recipe from Thursday’s Swedish Meatball dinner. I make enough meatball’s for two meals then freeze the quantity for the second meal.
To make the BBQ Meatballs for the hoagies, just place your frozen meatballs in the crockpot. Pour your favorite BBQ Sauce over them and cook on low for about 2 hours. It doesn’t get much easier than that, does it?
NOT just for Football Season!

Roast Beef is one of our favorites and I remember when my mom made it for Sunday dinner. I will try it your way the next time I make it. It looks like it will be nice and moist.
This looks great , I love the simplicity and flavors of it and will surely give this a try!
Thanks
This is such a great meal plan. I like your idea of buying a larger roast and getting 2 meals from it. I’ll have to give that a try.
OMG this menu looks so good. I really need to learn to menu plan better. I just open freezer adn go eenie meenie minie mo
oh I should not be looking at this when I am hungry!! I love a roast beef dinner. Very clever ideas to follow with during the week. Unfortunately, we don’t usually have much left ovevers at our house.
Now its to decide what to have tonight…sigh
Yum! I’m drooling over that awesome roast!
Yum, this menu looks so good!!
What a great menu you have listed. We love a good roast – I make mine in the slow cooker with cream of mushroom soup. Oh My Gosh! That is one good dinner. Your salad looks so yummy. I am really getting to love a salad with fruit in it. Who can go wrong with pizza! So many great ideas. I will have to copy a few of them!
Cynthia, I’ve never tried the cream of mushroom soup with a roast but I bet it’s good! I have a casserole recipe I use it in. Thanks!
Crabmeat stew sounds divine. I love seafood so I know I would love it. Not sure all the kids would be on board though. 🙂
Tiffany, our Crabmeat Stew recipe has been in our family for many years. It’s one of our most requested ‘soups’ around here. I hope you get to give it a try.
Wow, this is such an easy recipe! I wonder if I can throw this into the slow cooker too?
Yes, you can easily cook the Roast in the crock pot. I have done that too. Depending on how big your roast is, you can probably count on low for 8 hours to get it good and tender.
What an easy way to cook roast beef and it looks delicious! I’m adding this to my recipe collection now! Thanks for sharing.
Oh it is delicious Stephanie! Glad you like it and hope your family enjoys it as much as mine does.
That roast beef looks delicious! I love using the leftovers too! Thanks for the ideas & have a great week!
Hi Raquel. Glad you like it. I always enjoy the idea of cook once eat twice!
Well that recipe is easy. Mama’s recipes are usually the best, aren’t they? We love roast beef too and tend to have a roast for at least two meals. I thought I had an easy enough recipe until I saw yours. Pinning!!!
BTW: That is hilarious that there was no leftovers from the amount you cooked at the party.
Zan, we had such a nice celebration for their 50th anniversary. They renewed their vows and we prepared a nice ‘sit-down’ meal for all the guests using Momma’s easy recipe. When you’re among friends, it’s ok to ask for seconds, right!
I love making recipes just like mom used to make. And I hate that I never wrote down some of them. Your Sunday Dinner Roast Beef looks so amazing. I have to admit that I’ve never used gravy out of a can. I’ve always make it from scratch – just like mama did. 🙂
However, I’m glad that you can teach old dogs new tricks and I can’t wait to try your version of roast beef. It looks amazing and I love meals that have leftovers for creating a second meal. Your entire meal plan looks delicious. Wish I had one of those cookies to go with my morning cup of coffee.
You know Momma used to always make her gravy from scratch too but then Campbell’s put all of those recipes in her favorite magazines and she converted! It’s an easy version and comes out supper tender and juicy. Very few ingredients permits the flavor of the meat to shine.
