How To Set Up A Speed Cleaning Kit
We are sharing how to set up a speed cleaning kit using the same tools and products we used in our residential cleaning business.
What is speed cleaning you ask? It’s giving your home a quick surface cleaning to remove dirt, dust and grime. Your home will look and smell fresh so you can go out and do something fun and come home to a clean house.
Set up your speed cleaning kit with just the essentials. Keep in mind that speed cleaning is not deep cleaning. When you just can’t stand a dirty house and you are short on time, do some quick cleaning using products you know will remove the dirt and grime.

Tools and Supplies List
Fill your tool kit with just the basics which I have listed below. I keep my Speed cleaning supplies tray separate from my regular cleaning tray. I carry a regular cleaning tray with me when I am deep cleaning the bathrooms and kitchen. It’s the difference between wet work and dry work. I save the majority of the wet work for another cleaning day.
- A small organizing tray with a handle, like this one on Amazon
- Multi-surface cleaner, like this one from Windex
- Furniture Polish
- Paper towels (for mirrors)
- Microfiber cloth, I use these (machine washable)
- Swiffer duster or Feather duster
- Trash bag
Now that you know how to set up a speed cleaning kit, let’s quickly go over some do’s and don’ts.
Speed Cleaning Do’s and Don’ts
- Do have all your tools and equipment ready before you start cleaning
- Remove all distractions (TV, Cell Phone)
- Do carry a trash bag with you from room to room. It will likely be ready to take out when you’re done.
- Do work in a definite pattern for optimum results. Start in the room nearest the front door and work your way through the house clockwise going from room to room.
- Do the same as above for each room using a definite pattern. Begin to the right of where you entered the room and work your way around the room and back out the door.
- Do not do laundry while speed cleaning.
Clutter and speed cleaning
We are cleaning. We are not decluttering. The trick is to manage the clutter before you speed clean. Just in case you didn’t do that, try one of these tips.
- The quickest thing to do is to pile it all in one spot and then go put everything away after you have finished the room. No walking back and forth while speed cleaning because it will slow you down.
- Make a quick trip through the house to remove all clutter prior to beginning your speed cleaning. Carry a laundry basket with you to collect it all then tell everyone to get their own stuff from the basket. Good luck with that!
- Do your decluttering on Friday evening before you go to bed. Saturday speed cleaning will go smoothly.
Take a quick walk through my home and I’ll show how I use my speed cleaning kit.

Bedrooms
Everything I need for bedroom furniture, glass decor and mirrors is handy in my tray. Instead of having to walk back and forth to get a duster or paper towels and window cleaner for the mirrors, I have everything with me. No walking back and forth makes the housework go faster.

Living Room
A Multi-Surface Cleaner that can be used on both mirrors and solid natural surfaces is very handy in my kit. I use it on the marble of these vintage side tables that are both marble and wood. My speed cleaning kit also has my furniture polish for the wood surfaces and a feather duster for lamps and and other decor.

Kitchen
While speed cleaning my home, I clean surfaces in the kitchen and bathrooms also. They say housework is it’s own reward. I use the multi-surface cleaner in the kitchen. That mirror shine on my smooth top stove is my reward. Once that shine is visible the kitchen is closed.

Bathrooms
A multi-purpose cleaner is great for quick clean ups in the bathroom too. I love adding them to my speed cleaning kit for a quick wipe down of bathroom counters and fixtures.
Now that you know the tools and supplies you need, you can set up your own speed cleaning kit and liberate your housework when you are too busy to deep clean.
Now, take your new Speed Cleaning Kit and follow these directions below.

This makes so much sense. I need to make one up for myself. Half the work sometimes is figuring out where everything I need for cleaning is located. Smart Idea!!
This is such a great idea! Having a kit ready to clean is perfect. Being able to just clean it up quick would make so much sense.
I think I’d need some space for motivation, too! haha That’s the biggest thing standing in my way of my house being cleaner 🙂
Who couldn’t use a “Speed Cleaning Kit”? Seriously. This is perfect for literally EVERYONE. Love these ideas. Thank you so much for sharing.
Looks like we’re all getting ready for Spring cleaning! This cleaning kit looks so convenient.
I am all for cleaning that is quick and easy. This kit is great as everything is in one place and easy to get to without having to search for it.
This is a really great cleaning kit! Although I HATE spring cleaning this would definitely help lessen the pain – and Windex is THE BEST!
Great idea! 🙂

When I’m cleaning, I definitely like to be quick and efficient. These are great tips for making cleaning go smoother. Thanks for the suggestions.
I use baskets for anything and everything around the house. Baskets are great for carrying cleaning items and makes it easier to handle while cleaning.
Oh, and thanks for reminding me to pick up some more Windex multi-surface cleaner.
I’ve already started my spring cleaning. My house desperately needed it. And I always have Windex products on hand. They work great!
Anything that speeds up my cleaning I am all for it! I hate that it takes so long to clean everything. I like what you have set up in there and I will definitely have to do that.
I definitely could use one of those basket organizers. I know that they make the process of cleaning so much easier. And thanks for the good tips about managing the clutter.
I agree with you that when speed cleaning, we must not multi-task, like do the laundry while cleaning. I’ve done that so many times and it really slowed me down. I clean the house everyday, which is good because I free up a lot of time on the weekends. Oh, and thanks for reminding me to pick up some more Windex multi-surface cleaner.
These are great for speed cleaning. I like to set a timer when I’m doing quick cleanups. I can’t spring clean without the TV though lol. Well, if I’m in that room I mean!
Great idea on organizing the speed cleaning kits. It will really save you time on setting up when cleaning. Windex looks really effective for cleaning.
I always have Windex products in my spring cleaning kit. I love the idea of speed cleaning when I don’t have time to do a deep clean. I’ve tried other window/mirror cleaners, but I found that they don’t do the job like Windex does.
Speed cleaning sounds good to me. I hate wasting time cleaning the house, but obviously it’s something that NEEDS to be done. I just want to get it done with as soon as possible.
