Our Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls are stuffed with apple bits and covered with Caramel Drizzle over Icing. We cheat a little to make these. They are not quite from scratch which means you only need three ingredients. A delicious sweet apple pastry treat any time of the year.

Making dessert not quite from scratch is my trade mark in my kitchen. Work smarter, not harder I always say. My family always raves and the desserts disappear.
Here are a few more of my not quite from scratch recipes.
My Mom used to buy those sweet rolls from the bakery department of the grocery store with cherry filling and we loved them growing up. I took that memory and made these Cherry Sweet Rolls Not Quite From Scratch.
A dessert that is so easy to make it almost makes ya feel guilty. I can get over that though because this 2 ingredients Pineapple Angel Food Cake melts in your mouth.
Have you ever made cake mix cookies? We had a neighbor and good friend who used to make them all the time for us kids. Naturally, I’d create a recipe in memory of her. These Soft & Chewy Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies always make me think of her.
When you want a little pumpkin flavor in the Fall without actual pumpkin, go for the pumpkin spice. That is exactly what I did when I created these Cream Cheese Stuffed Pumpkin Spice Sweet Rolls several years ago.
I partnered with Betty Crocker a few years ago to create a cookie flavor using their packaged mixes. One of the results were these Bacon Pecan Chocolate Chip Cookies which have a wonderful sweet and salty taste.
You may be catching on by now that I like to take store bought cinnamon rolls and turn them into something more exciting and flavorful. Every year during Mardi Gras season I make a few of these Easy Mardi Gras King Cakes. It’s always fun to see who finds the baby inside.
Ingredients for Apple Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls
- 2 Cans Cinnamon Rolls (5 per can)
- 1 Can (21 oz.) Apple Pie Filling
- Torani Caramel Sauce
Only 3 ingredients! I love a simple recipe, don’t you!
Begin by putting the apple pie filling into a small food chopper and chop until you have tiny bits of apples. You don’t want to make a puree, just chop enough to have tiny bits of apples as shown above.
Spray your glass baking dish with non-stick spray. Open the cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside to allow it to come to room temperature so it is easier to spread. Then place each cinnamon roll in and slightly unroll each. Give yourself a little space for stuffing the apple filling into.
You do want sides touching for a softer and taller Apple cinnamon roll. It will be a tight fit but that is okay.
Stuffing the cinnamon rolls with apple filling
Time to stuff the cinnamon rolls with apple filling. I use a long teaspoon for this.
Fill in between each roll as much as you can with the apple filling. It will be tight in places and that is okay. I never use the whole can of apples. I only use about 2/3 of it. Don’t waste the leftovers though. Add them to a bowl of oatmeal or top a stack of pancakes with it.
No More Cinnamon
The reason we do not add cinnamon to the apple filling is because the store bought cinnamon rolls already have it. Too much cinnamon flavor would be over powering.
You can place some chopped pecans or walnuts onto the top of your apple cinnamon rolls just before baking if you like. We love them with pecans.
Bake at 350° for about 25 to 29 minutes according to package directions. It may take a few minutes longer because of the apple filling.
Apple Cinnamon Rolls fresh from the oven
Allow the freshly baked Apple Cinnamon Rolls to cool completely before icing. It’s hard, I know you just want to eat one fresh and hot from the oven.
After they are cooled, you can ice them using the icing from the Cinnamon Roll package. Then drizzle the Caramel topping over the top for a finishing touch to this delectable treat.
Apple is a Fall Flavor but you can make these any time of the year since we use canned apple pie filling. Torani Caramel topping is available year round also.
For a real treat, stir some of the Torani Caramel topping into a hot cup of coffee to go with one of the Apple Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls! Visit Torani on Pinterest for more recipe ideas.
We cheat a little to make these Scrumptious Caramel Iced Apple Stuffed Cinnamon Rolls. They are not quite from scratch which means you only need three ingredients. A delicious sweet apple pastry treat any time of the year.
- 2 Cans Cinnamon Rolls (Pillsbury Cinnabon Grands work great)
- 1 Can (21 oz.) Apple Pie Filling
- Torani Caramel Sauce
- Scoop the apple pie filling into a small food chopper and chop until you have tiny bits of apples. You don’t want to make a puree, just chop enough to have tiny bits of apples.
- Spray a large glass backing dish with non-stick spray
- Open the cinnamon rolls and set the icing aside
- Place the cinnamon rolls into the baking dish and unroll slightly just enough to make room for the apple filing. (see the pictures in the blog posts) Side will be touching and that is perfect for softer taller rolls
- Spoon the apple filling between the layers of the cinnamon rolls
- Bake according to package directions which is likely 350° for about 26 minutes or until done
- Cool completely before icing
- Use the icing container from the package to cover all of the Apple stuffed cinnamon rolls
- Drizzle the Caramel topping over the icing
- Serve and enjoy!
Optional: Chopped nuts of your choice can be added before baking. We love these with chopped pecans.
