Welcome to our Fall Front Porch!

Preparation for our fall front porch was so much fun!  From shopping for Pumpkins, Mums and Pansies to creating our upcylce DIY Harvest sign to adding some family memories!

Creating a welcoming fall front porch was at the top of my to-do list for our first fall in the new home.

Come on up onto the porch with us!

Hay bales, Scarecrows, Mums, Pansies, Pumpkins, Plaid pillows, and blankets create our cozy fall front porch. We also included touches of family memories and a few of my thrift upcycle projects which are all linked at the end of this post.

Our Scarecrow is more cute than she is scary. She couldn’t stand still in the wind so I removed the second pole and planted the top one into the hay bale and she hasn’t moved since!

The rocking chair end of the porch is ‘my end.’ When we are not snuggling on the swing, I enjoy my wicker rocking chair. The wicker furniture brings fond memories of my Mom since it was furniture she used on her enclosed porch for many years. I spray painted these pieces earlier in the summer to give them a newer look.

Pumpkins and Pansies create cozy fall feels on any fall front porch. We are big fans of traditional fall colors so orange pumpkins are a must! Isn’t it marvelous the many different colors God created in Pumpkins! I did not buy pots of big pansies. Instead I purchased the little six packs and planted them in my pots. It gives me great pleasure to nurture young flowers into full growth.

Our well weathered frog is a family memory. He greeted us at the back door of my parents home for many years. It’s funny the little things which bring us the most joy, isn’t it.

Just in front of the rocking chair side of the porch is our basket girl with her Ornamental Kale. Over her left shoulder is a half barrel filled with Red Fountain grass, orange Mums and more Ornamental Kale.

Pillows and blankets create a cozy front porch swing.

My hubby and I spend a lot of time on our porch including snuggling under a blanket on those cool fall mornings. Oh yes, we do brave those cooler mornings for our porch time. Fun fact, we listen to TED Talks on Saturday mornings while we enjoy our coffee.

Another family memory is the burnt orange blanket we are using on the swing this fall. One year for Christmas, my niece gave everyone a monogrammed blanket. This one is Dad’s. I am also using mine on my rocking chair.

The Red lantern is another upcycle project from several years ago. I fell in love with that gorgeous green and orange pumpkin the moment I saw it! Don’t you just love all the wrinkles and how beautiful God made it’s coloring!

The bright yellow Mums are housed in an antique wood ice cream churn which I have owned for many years. My vintage shaved wood fruit picking basket was a church rummage sale find at a bargain price. 50¢ is quite the bargain, isn’t it?

Our Boston ferns from summer are still full and beautiful! I simply had to incorporate them into our fall decor!

It was a must to plant small Mums for the pleasure of watching them grow. I had much success growing Mums in the ground at our old home so we shall see how this goes here!

There are few flowers as showy as Celosia which bloom both summer and fall. Celosia are an annual so sadly it won’t come back but we will enjoy those fiery red plumes this fall. Gold and orange Mums frame the Celosia accompanied by an Ornamental Kale. I really look forward to watching this little floral vignette grow. Follow me on Instagram for more pictures of their growth as the season progresses.
