Not So Scary Halloween Party Ideas

Don’t you just love those googly eyes peeping through the windows on the cupcake stand?

A few things to consider for a not too spooky Halloween party are:

  • fun colors for decorations
  • not spooky Halloween party food
  • a light-hearted fun color scheme

Halloween Party Color Scheme

If you love traditional orange and black colors for Halloween you will enjoy our Halloween party decorations ideas. There is plenty of orange and black but it is complemented with lime green and purple for a whimsical look that isn’t scary at all.

Color Scheme Ideas

  • Polka dots
  • Chevron pattern
  • Paisley decorations
  • Candy corn colors; yellow, orange and white
  • Lime green
  • Bright Purple

Almost everything came from Oriental Trading which is easily everyone’s Halloween Headquarters.

They have not so scary and spooky decor as well as great prices on candy and costumes.

Halloween Party Food

My motto is Work Smarter, Not Harder so with that in mind so we provided good party food but not everything took a lot of time.

I picked up some chocolate-covered doughnuts with pretty colored plastic vampire teeth from the bakery. See how they match our color scheme! Those were the first to go!

We even found these super fun edible Halloween Fortune Cookies at Oriental Trading.  They are individually wrapped so perfect for handing out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night or including in your Halloween party goodie bags as we did.

The orange and white goodie cups are filled with Chex Mix. See my recipe for Pumpkin Spice Chex Mix which is perfect for Halloween party food.

Halloween Party Decorations

We set up our Not So Scary Halloween Party on our dining table which is a little wide. That works out great when we have a dinner party but for this party, we turned our table around and decorated the backside with fun Orange and Black Tissue Paper fans.

The center of our party table is layered with a spider web placemat, candy dishes filled with sweet treats, a couple of perfume bottles now called potion bottles, and a chalkboard sign which comes out at party time.

The mini Jack-o-lanterns are all filled with licorice sticks. You should be able to find those at the Dollar store.
