IRON SKILLET COOKING

Cooking in the iron skillet somehow gives food an even better flavor in my humble opinion.

Iron skillets are good for more than just making cornbread. There is just something special about the outcome of the food when it was prepared in an iron skillet.

WAYS TO COOK SALMON

There are many ways to prepare salmon, and we’ve done most of them. I almost set the oven on fire once when I didn’t soak the cedar planks long enough before cooking salmon in the oven!

  • Baked in the oven
  • Broiled in the oven
  • Grilled on a charcoal or gas grill
  • Cedar plank in the oven
  • Cedar plank on the grill
  • Smoked
  • Fried
  • Pan Seared

Make this yummy recipe for Parmesan crusted Salmon. It makes a delicious weeknight meal or special occasion meal. We make ours in the iron skillet and serve restaurant quality side dishes. #salmonrecipe #weeknightmeal #ironskilletrecipe

Only four ingredients needed for this lightly crusted Parmesan Italian flavored Salmon made in the Iron Skillet.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 large piece of Salmon, cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 pk. Italian dressing mix
  • ½ Cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. Robust olive oil

Instructions

Mix one packet of the Italian dressing mix with ½ cup (more if desired) grated parmesan cheese

Coat the salmon with the seasoning mix

Heat the Iron skillet with the olive oil on high heat. Do not walk away!

Once the oil is hot, cook the salmon skin side down first for about 2 minutes to make it crispy and sealed

Then turn the burner down to medium high and continue to cook another 4-5 minutes before flipping

Turn the salmon over using a firm spatula and cook on the other side for about 3-4 minutes until it is done to your preference.

Serve and enjoy!

Notes

The amount of time it takes for your salmon to get done will depend on how thick your salmon is. Thicker salmon will take longer, thinner will cook quicker.

I prefer Robust Olive Oil for the flavor but you can use what you have on hand.
