Craft Room Makeover Week Two
Welcome to the 2018 Craft Room Makeover Challenge Week Two
Oh the work that has gone into cleaning off that work table!
From January 3rd through January 31st, 12 Plus crafty bloggers will be sorting, organizing, cleaning, and decorating their craft spaces. Each of us has a very different craft space to tackle, so chances are you will find one similar to yours. Follow along, share you suggestions and tell how you are organizing your craft space too!
Go HERE for Week One to see the whole ugly picture of my craftermath following the holiday season! Visit my Crafts page to see what I’ve been making.
These two pano shots tell the whole ugly story of how messy my craft work space had become during the holiday season.
My work table is a 6 ft. Lifetime Folding Utility Table. I love it because it is a wipe clean surface, large enough for cutting out fabric, is very lightweight and is the perfect size for my space to meet my crafting needs.
Because it is a folding table, we can use it for other purposes like yard sales or if we need another table for a big dinner or party.
After I had cleaned the table I decided to use that space to consider items which can be used for organization. I shopped my home for everything except the hanging three basket organizer which was a happy find at Tuesday Morning. I plan to use it for notebooks and such so they will no longer be piled on my desk.
The thing you see under my work table is a foot rest which has been gnawed on by a puppy. A foot rest is essential to relieving back pain when you sit for long periods of time. Mine was a gift from a client many years ago. It is collapsible for easy storage which is nice. My husband has one under his desk like the one below from Amazon.
Take a closer look at a couple of the things I hope to use for organizing my craft supplies.
The vintage frame was a thrift find and I can’t wait to give it a makeover and get it up on the wall!
The magnetic knife holder is intended for kitchen use but I could never bring myself to have sharp knives hanging on the wall. It will be quite useful in the craft room, don’t you think! I am looking forward to sharing with you next week exactly how these items will be used to create more organization for my craft work space.

Now I feel like I need to get on the ball and get my work space organized. A footrest might be on the must have list as well!
That footrest is a real back saver. It’s amazing how it relieves back pain while sitting for long periods of time. Join along with the craft room makeover! We’d love to have you.
Look at you Shirley! I love that wire basket organizer. Can’t wait to see how you use it all!
Yami, I can’t wait to see how I use it all too. LOL It’s been a real challenge for sure. I want to go work on that clean table!
Shirley, you did such a good job!!! That table is empty and the rest of the room, too! Wow! I had to laugh when I saw the photo of your magnetic knife holder as most of it is written in German. I was like “wait a minute…something seems off here”, lol. Can’t wait what you will stick to it…probably some scissors and what? A ruler maybe? What else is magnetic, hmmmmm…I gues I have to wait till next week.
Habiba, you are such a sweetie! I had no idea it was written in German. I have been dragging that knife holder around forever waiting on a good way to use it but not in the kitchen. Hubby could use it in the garage but I want it in my craft room!
Wow, your space looks so great already! And I love how you’re repurposing other things from your home to help you organize your craft supplies!
Finding items to use was kind of fun. I knew there were perfectly good things around the house. Now I have been painting and primping up a few things. It’s a process. Thank you.
You sure did a lot of cleaning. I like that you shopped your house first (I’m doing the same thing) and can’t wait to see what you come up with.
It was kind of fun to shop the house and put some things to good use. This has been a challenge for sure. I am looking forward to having that wall covered and a well organized work space.
I’m looking forward to seeing how you use the magnetic knife holder. Looks like you’re making lots of progress, Shirley!
Thank you Beverly. I am so glad to finally be able to put that knife holder to use but not in the kitchen. I never could hang sharp knives out in the open like that! It will be really handy in the craft room though!
