Bathroom Drawer Organization Practical Ideas
Does your bathroom have drawers? This is how I have tackled the problem of bathroom drawer organization in my home. Two of our bathrooms do not have drawers and I do not want plastic carts so I came up with a solution which works for us.
Welcome to the Drawer Organization Blog Hop! For the entire month of April, 10 bloggers will be sharing the process of cleaning and organizing one drawer in our homes each week. This is Week Three and our focus is Bathroom Drawers.

All bathrooms are not created equal. We have three in our home and two of those do not have drawers for storage. Luckily one of those is a guest bath upstairs which needs little storage and the space under the sink is sufficient.
My problem was our hall bath which doubles as our grandson’s bathroom and a guest bath most often used when we have guests. It isn’t a big space so there really isn’t a place to put a bathroom storage cabinet of sorts. There is a nice linen closet behind the door so I decided to take advantage of that space.
I purchased this Sterilite Small 3 Drawer Unit which sits comfortably in the linen closet between two stacks of blankets. It takes up very little space. The color is called Espresso and isn’t that a pretty basket weave pattern.

The drawers are stackable so if I wanted to take it apart and make 3 separate drawers, I could. It is very small. Measurements are 8 5/9 x 7 1/4 x 6 7/8. The inside of the drawers is about 1 3/4″ tall so it is perfect for what I needed. I need shallow storage with single layers. It doesn’t really feel organized if I have to dig through layers of things in a deep bin to find one thing.
Personally I consider it to be gross to store toothbrushes next to the sink exposed to all sorts of germs. Just think how people sling the water when they wash their hands. Do I hear a collective ‘ewe’! The biggest reason I feel like a bathroom even needs a drawer for anything is for dental hygiene products. It is really nice to have a drawer for hair brushes and hair care products too but our grandson is low maintenance and doesn’t use a lot of products.
The first thing I did when I brought the new Sterilite Storage Unit home was to pull it apart and wash the drawers in the dishwasher on the top rack. Then I handed it over to my grandson for his bathroom. He stores his toothbrush and toothpaste in the top drawer and other hygiene items in the other two drawers.
Now my counters are free of personal products and available for me to put pretty like decor in there like I did last fall with this Decoupage Pumpkin Fall Vignette.
I use small plastic bins in the toothbrush drawer of the master bath also. I like to wash them in the dishwasher occasionally. There are three more drawers in the master bath which makes keeping the counter clean and clutter free easier.
Keeping the bathroom functional and well organized takes some creativity and effort. We all have to do those things which work best for our space. Using a small drawer storage bin works well for us. Our very first home had one bathroom with only a pedestal sink in it so I definitely know the frustration of not having bathroom drawers. Luckily we also had a small closet in the bath so that’s where things were stored. Oh and I did a collective ewww with you about the toothbrushes. I think i need to come up with a different storage place for ours now as I can’t stop thinking about the germs!!!! lol
What were they thinking by not putting drawers in bathrooms? Great that you are so clever and found a fabulous way to add them to yours and generous enough to share it with us!

Our guest bath doesn’t have any drawers, either. It does have a wall mounted cabinet, so that helps. Using the storage drawer bin there is a great solution. I use one in our master bath for extra makeup items. Keeping the counters clear of clutter is a must for me!
Yes, I can’t stand bathroom clutter. This challenge has inspired me to do lots of organizing around the house with the ideas which have been shared. Great minds think alike and it’s good to know we are all putting those plastic bins to such good use.
I really like the 3 drawer organiziner you found, very pretty. It will work perfectly in the place of drawers, bathrooms definitely need drawers & more storage space. I agree toothbrushes donโt belong on the counter.
