mixing the topping ingredients in a mixing bowl

Step Three

Add the chopped apples to a large bowl and pour the lemon juice over.

Mix the sugar, cornstarch, ginger and cinnamon together in a small bowl then pour over the apples and toss to coat all of the chopped apples.

You could add the apples to the Crockpot and mix the sugar and spice coating over them inside of the Crockpot to avoid having another bowl to clean.

Step Five

Sprinkle the topping over the top of the apples. Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 2 hours. Prior to serving, remove the lid of the slow cooker and allow the top to harden.

The hardest part of this easy apple crumble is waiting to have a bowl full. It smells delicious while cooking.

How To Serve Apple Crisp

Serve your apple crisp with a big scoop of ice cream. Another great way to serve this delicious fall dessert is with caramel sauce drizzled all over it. Go for broke and add that scoop of vanilla ice cream then drizzle the caramel sauce over!

What kind of apples are used in Apple Crisp?

Any kind of apple you like. I’m a fan of Honeycrisp so I use those when available in most of my apple recipes. A lot of people use Granny Smith apples when baking apple desserts but you can actually use any kind. Pink Lady are good in this recipe.

Do you peel the apples for Apple Crisp?

Either way is fine. However if you want to leave them on, go ahead but wash them well first. Apple peeling has fiber so there is that. Some folks do not want the peeling. The peel also adds color to this fall dessert. These are all things to consider.
