The savory and sweet combination of flavors in this Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix is the perfect comfort food snack for everything Fall.

Pumpkin flavors give us those warm and cozy fall feels in the form of food. Several of my favorite fall recipes include these delicious Cream Cheese Stuffed Pumpkin Spice Sweet Rolls and this recipe for Pumpkin Banana Bread that makes the whole house smell like autumn.

When to serve Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix

Not your traditional homemade Chex Mix

The original Chex Party Mix recipe uses 3 cups each of three different kinds of Chex cereal. It’s savory, not sweet and a great snack for any time of the year.

That original recipe has evolved to include a little sweetness for my favorite season, Autumn.

The fun twist I have added is Pumpkin Spice. If you are a friend of the pumpkin spice flavor but secretly one of us pumpkin haters, then this recipe is for you. Hate is a strong word, let’s say not a fan of actual pumpkin in recipes.

Harvest Snack Mix Ingredients

This recipe uses simple ingredients you can find at your grocery store. I have included Amazon affiliate links in the ingredient list to make shopping easier if you love shopping on Amazon as much as I do.

Pumpkin Spice Snack Mix Ingredients

Tools Used in this recipe

  • Large baking sheet with sides
  • Parchment paper
  • Wooden spoon
  • Large bowl
  • Small saucepan
  • Airtight container for storage

How to Make Pumpkin Spice Chex Mix

Melted butter, brown sugar and pumpkin spice in a small pot

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 275°.

Mix the cereals, pretzels, cashews, and Turtle Chex Mix in a large bowl and set aside.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, add the butter, brown sugar, pumpkin spice, and vanilla.

Cook on low until the butter is melted, stirring often. Do not bring it to a boil! Stir just until the butter is completely melted and the ingredients are blended. Remove from heat.

Microwave Option

This step can be done in the microwave. Microwave butter until melted in a small bowl. Then add the brown sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin spice. Stir until well blended and all ingredients are melted.

Step 3

Pour butter mixture over the cereal mixture and gently fold using a wooden spoon until all ingredients are well covered.

Just keep folding and the seasoning will continue to coat all of the yummy little bits of cereal mixture.

Step 4

Cover a large sheet pan with parchment paper.

Pour the seasoned cereal mixture onto the parchment paper and spread evenly across the pan in a single layer using the wooden spoon.

Place into the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes. Use a spatula to turn the pieces every 15 minutes to ensure even baking.

I set my stove timer for 15-minute increments so I won’t forget! Some ovens cook faster than others. Mine is a convection oven but it still took 45 minutes.

Remove the pan out of the oven and allow it to cool before adding the sweets.

Step 5

After the cereal mixture has cooled, pour it into a large bowl for mixing. You can use the lid of a cake taker for this if you don’t have a large enough bowl.

Pour in the M & M’s, chocolate-coated Pretzels, and Autumn candy corn then toss to blend well.

Serve and enjoy!

A fun way to serve your Chex mix recipes is n a brown paper lunch bag for individual serving. Write their names on the outside of the bag to make everyone feel special.

The cereals give you the little crunch to pair with the soft candies included in this snack mix. It’s a great way to serve fun food at your next party.

How To Store Pumpkin Spice Party Mix

You can store your Pumpkin Spice Chex Mix in an airtight container on the counter for about 2 weeks. It won’t last that long though because everyone will eat it all up quickly!
