Most cooks make their own Chili recipe. I’ve been cooking for more than 35 years now and been making chili all of that time.

I used to follow the directions explicitly on the back of the Chile-O seasoning packet. As my cooking skills improved, my recipes tend to evolve. This is my own recipe creation for Crockpot Black Bean Chili, hope you enjoy it!

My Chili recipe is for folks like me who do not care for spicy hot food. The most heat in my ingredients is the chili powder. My recipe does not come out so hot that it burns your tongue or makes your eyes water.

What to Serve with Chili:

My hubby loves having Pimento Cheese Sandwiches with Chili and He has got me enjoying that combo too. We just make them on wheat loaf bread. It’s an extra treat when we enjoy that combo. Most of the time we just stick with having some good old fashioned homemade Cornbread with our chili. Saltines and Oyster Crackers are also good. Whatever you have on hand!

Chili is delicious as is but we also enjoy adding a dollop of sour cream and some shredded sharp cheese as  toppings. If you can take the heat and you didn’t add hot sauce to the recipe which I never do, you could sprinkle some hot peppers on top!

Freezer Option: Prepare according to directions. Allow to completely cool. Spoon into Freezer safe containers according to your preferred serving size. To prepare, thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat and serve!
