Sweet glazed green beans are a perfect side dish for many meals including our Parmesan Skillet Salmon also served with Homemade mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. fresh whole green beans
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. light brown sugar, like this
- 1/2 Cup chopped pecans
- Pinch of coarse Kosher salt, like this
Directions
The first step in making Pecan Glazed Green Beans is to blanch the green beans. This involves boiling them in salted water for a few minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp.
Step 1
Snip the ends off the green beans, rinse and drain on paper towels.

Step 2
Place the beans into a pot of boiling, salted water to blanch. Boil, for about 5 to 8 minutes, until barely tender.
Once they are done, immediately transfer them to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process and preserve their color and texture. This step is important to ensure that the green beans are cooked perfectly and have the right texture for the recipe.
Drain in a colander then spread the beans out onto paper towels and pat dry.
Step 3
While the green beans are draining, melt the butter and brown sugar in a large skillet. Add in the pecans and green beans.
Sprinkle with the Kosher salt and cook, tossing occasionally for about 5 or 6 minutes. The green beans will be nice and crispy, as well as tasty.
Serve and enjoy!
Brown sugar adds the slightest little sweet glaze to the pecans and gives the green beans a delicious savory and sweet taste.

Yummy, I made them today! I had to use walnuts because I realized all my pecans were gone:( But it still tasted great! Missed the pecans, though!
I’m glad to hear that Zan! We love walnuts too, may have to try that. We live in the south where pecan orchards abound so pecans are usually in the cabinet.
