My plans for making this Festive Red Buffalo Plaid Christmas Wreath have been in the works for quite a long time. Maybe even since last Christmas when I decided to weave some Buffalo Plaid into our home decor this Christmas season.

I made this Festive Buffalo Plaid Christmas Wreath for my front door. It is much more affordable to make your own wreath using craft store supplies. Let me show you how I made this one.

Sometimes technical difficulties prevent us from doing the things we want. Did we have technical difficulties prior to the computer age. Well I suppose you wouldn’t be reading this right now if it wasn’t for computers. Anyway, there is an instructional video for this beautiful festive Buffalo Plaid Wreath. It just isn’t loaded yet due to technical difficulties but come back here in a few days and it will have magically appeared, hopefully. It will be on my You Tube Channel first right here.

In the meantime, enjoy the finished photos and believe me when I say, You can make one of these pretty Christmas wreaths for your front door! All you need is the design elements and a glue gun. Allow your imagination show you how to style it.

My inspiration piece for this wreath is the JOY wall hanging which I found right here where lots of Christmas Buffalo Plaid caught my attention.

THE WREATH FORM

I decided to go with a traditional faux greenery 30″ wreath form because I am a traditional Christmas decor kind of girl. Incorporating Buffalo Plaid was just a smidgen outside of my comfort zone but I decided to be daring and go for it. Not the least bit sorry, in fact I’m in love with how pretty and festive the colors and patterns are!

THE FLORAL PICKS

All of my floral picks came from Hobby Lobby. They also had a nice selection of quickly disappearing buffalo pattern elements. Those picks with the balls and bells stole my heart. The bells are a gorgeous rusty which only adds more character.

The bright red bell ornaments wound up on our tree. After placing them onto the wreath during the design phase, I decided against using them on the wreath.

RIBBON AND NO BOWS

This wreath has been declared bow free! That does not mean our home is bow free for Christmas. Absolutely not. Stop back by to see our trees this year being shared a little later and you will see the gorgeous ribbon I found!

This wreath does not need a bow. I didn’t want to distract from the J-O-Y which is my inspiration piece by covering up the J or the Y with a big bow. Instead, I chose to wind the ribbon around between the other elements which turned out nice.

I’m looking forward to hanging my new Christmas wreath right after Thanksgiving! Do you decorate for Christmas before or after Thanksgiving?

  1. I love your wreath, Shirley, even though it’s bow free! You know the old saying “put a bow on it” especially since I’m on the Bowdabra design team! It still looks fabulous without one!

  2. When you say you were daring and incorporated buffalo check into your holiday decor this year you weren’t messing round! Red & black AND white & black – you go girl! LOL Your wreath is so pretty and love the vertical JOY in the center. But I also like the unique shape of your wreath! Pinned
