The dining room is such a fun place to decorate with seasonal decor. This year I have created a Farmhouse Style Fall Tablescape without breaking the budget with a couple of fun DIY projects.
Last year I completely repurposed some of my older fall decor pieces, so this year I enjoyed crafting a couple of new pieces to add to the collection. I can’t promise there won’t be more new additions around the house. Fall is my favorite time of the year!
I like to leave my fall decor up a little longer than any other seasonal decor. For that reason, I need to be sure I always take good care of everything. I have always used Pledge® Lemon Clean Furniture Spray to take care of the wood surfaces in my home, but now I’m happy to also use Pledge® Multi Surface Everyday Cleaner with Glade® Rainshower® for my glasstop table and all of my treasured wood, glass and metal fall decor. I found it in the cleaning products aisle at my local Kroger store recently. While I was there, I also grabbed some Pledge® Extra Moisturizing Furniture Spray to use on my favorite China Cabinet.
I feel like a kid in a candy store when I open my storage bins with my fall decor collection! I like to set everything out on the table to take stock and make plans. This is when I grab my Pledge® Multi Surface Everyday Cleaner with Glade® Rainshower®. I spray a soft cotton cloth and then wipe each item down carefully as I unpack it. That way when I’m ready to start decorating, I’ve already taken care of my special decor items.
Our stenciled wood crate is a super easy stenciling project and a fun addition to any fall decor.
Farmhouse Style Crate Makeover
I had this cute little wooden crate in my decor closet. It’s just the perfect size and style for my fall farmhouse style tablescape. Sometimes a complete makeover isn’t necessary. I love the antiquing on it, but I wanted to add just one small touch using stencils. Look around your house for any wood or metal container that you might be able to make over with just a stencil and some paint. You may be surprised what you find.
I have had this cool Farmhouse Style stencil in my craft room for a while now and finally got to use it! Stencils are a nice inexpensive way to change up decor you already have or, of course, to make designs on new decor too.
I always cut my stencils apart to make the tape down process easier. The only part of this stencil I was using for this project was ‘Hand Selected And Hand Packed Since 1921’ so I cut that area off.
I just taped the stencil down and use a sponge brush to apply the paint. Just a little tiny dab of paint on the brush is all you need for good coverage.
I used a second sponge brush to dab the fresh paint so it wouldn’t be too dark.
We just love having our farmhouse style crate full of pumpkins in the middle of our fall tablescape. I can’t wait to see where else it may show up in home decor throughout the year.
My daughter, Tiffany, has mad decorating skills. Our Farmhouse Style Fall Tablescape is her design. She came down for a quick overnight visit and we packed way more things into one day than are allowed by law, including this tablescape! The gorgeous vintage metal milk can came from an antique shop in the Atlanta area and belongs to Tiffany. I’m hoping she will forget where she put it! Sitting right in front of the milk can is an antique dough bowl filled with pinecones and pumpkin. The ceramic pumpkin next to the dough bowl has a battery powered candle for a little evening ambiance. The purple velvet pumpkin is one of my previous fall decor crafts. There is also a gold velvet pumpkin in this tablescape.
One of my favorite things about Tiffany’s design is the tree limb with the little white dove perched in his nest. All but a few of the leaves have fallen from his tree and now he has a bird’s eye view of our little pumpkin patch.
Our Farmhouse Style Fall Tablescape is made up of lots of pumpkins including ceramic and velvet. We incorporated a wooden crate, our DIY Burlap napkin rings, an antique dough bowl and a vintage metal milk can. There is even an antique clay jug holding Indian corn. I’m looking forward to enjoying soup in our fall dining room. I’ll be keeping it all clean and pretty throughout the fall with my Pledge® Multi Surface Everyday Cleaner with Glade® Rainshower®. I love how Pledge® keeps your treasured items in your home protected and clean.

Yes, I agree, the dining room is one of the best places at home to decorate for seasonal decors. This is also where most family member often gathers together as one – so it but just proper to invest a little more time and creativity for our dining room or dining table 🙂
