Elements of A Romantic Movie Date Night at Home
Movie date nights in the winter are the best with an extra touch of warm and cozy. So light the fireplace, turn off the lights, grab a blanket, snuggle up with your sweetheart and hit play.
See our list of Best Ever Favorite Football Movies for other movie date night ideas at home. It’s not always about the game.
On the last (or fourth) Monday of each month, a group of bloggers participate in a #MovieMondayChallenge, hosted by C’mon Get Crafty! We decide on a topic, genre, or specific movie to use for inspiration and everyone gets free reign to create something wonderful!
This month’s challenge was. . . . “Romance! Everyone was allowed to choose their favorite romantic film for this challenge.
My hubby and I selected Sweet Home Alabama with Reese Witherspoon and Patrick Dempsey.

We decided to have some fun with our Sweet Home Alabama movie date night by making Grilled Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches.
Food and Beverage. Make it light and easy so you can enjoy your date night. We decided to have some fun with our Sweet Home Alabama movie date night by making Grilled Peanut Butter & Jelly Sandwiches. Yep, good ol’ PB&J with Red Plum Jelly!
One of the movies memorable quotes is delivered by Pearl Smooter while she is cutting up ripe plums to make Plum Jelly and chatting with her lovelorn daughter.
“Anyway, spoiled’s in the eye of the beholden like these plums here. Some people might call them “spoiled”, but I think that, um, these almost-ruined ones… sometimes make the sweetest jam.”
In honor of Pearl Smooter’s Plum Jam, we enjoyed Grilled Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches! Easy, yummy and fun!
I slathered a few slices of wide pan oat bread with this Honey Roast Peanut Butter and placed it onto a warm griddle on the stove. While the peanut butter bread was grilling, I covered the other slices with this Red Plum Jam which is always in our refrigerator because it is our favorite! Then I topped the peanut butter bread with the jam smothered slices and flipped each sandwich over to grill the other side. The heat really brings out the flavor in the peanut butter!
I sliced them in half because peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are always better sliced!
See how to make a Coke Float here which we did for our Christmas With The Kranks Movie party at home.
Set the mood. Think in terms of low lighting, candles, a big cozy blanket and the fireplace.Turn off the lights and enjoy the glow of the TV screen only is one way to go. Of course you can always light a few well placed candles for a romantic mood. If it is winter, use the fireplace.
We gifted ourselves a set of these battery operated candles for Christmas! Now we can create that romantic mood without worrying about fire or flame plus they came with a remote control!
Privacy, the right movie, good food and beverage and a little mood setting are all you need for a romantic movie date night at home!
Now let’s see what everyone else was inspired to create for this month’s #MovieMondayChallenge!! If you’d like to join our Facebook group, you can request an invite here.
