Move over little red truck because here comes an adorable Red Wagon Christmas Decor! I’m in love with the charm our new fireplace hearth decor brings to our living room this holiday season.
THE ADORABLE WOOD TABLETOP RED WAGON
While shopping online at Oriental Trading for Christmas crafting and decor items I came across this adorable Tabletop Red Wagon. It’s made of wood and the wheels really turn. It was love at first sight and I knew there were multiple ways I could use it for some crafty Christmas decor. I am excited to show the easy way I dressed it up and staged it for our fireplace hearth this holiday season.

BUFFALO CHECK CHRISTMAS DECOR
We are adding some pops of buffalo check into our Christmas decor this year which is a bit of a rustic feel so using the Red Wagon on our fireplace hearth next to the tree seemed like a nice plan.
Do you know how expensive it can quickly become when you decide to change your Christmas decor? Yes, I am sure you do. Creating DIY Christmas decor is the best way to combat those costs.
HOW I CREATED MY EASY RED WAGON CHRISTMAS DECOR
Did you see my unboxing video on my Instagram stories when all of my Christmas decor and crafting supplies arrived from Oriental Trading? I was like a kid in a candy store! It was such fun!
The first thing I did with my new red wagon was to sit it on the hearth and stare at it for a few days. Who else seeks inspiration in such a creative way? I knew I wanted to use it by the fireplace but had not decided exactly how just yet. Those wood rails and the rustic charm made me think of the Christmas Tree Farm we visit each year with our grandchildren and an idea was born.

CHRISTMAS TREE & HOLLY
If you have ever been to a Christmas Tree Farm you have seen the hand drawn Christmas trees painted green on their equipment and wagons. I felt like we really needed to do that for a bit of authentic feeling to our little red wagon hauling a load of farm fresh cut trees.
My hubby drew the tree and holly branches and I painted them. DecoArt Kelly Green acrylic paint gave a nice bright green on the background of red. I have to tell you how much I love that Galaxy Glitter Acrylic paint from DecoArt which I added to the tree for a little Christmas bling. I used DecoArt Santa Red for the Holly Berries with just a a small dallop on the tip of the brush.
LETTERING ON THE SIDE
The lettering on the side of the wagon is actually stick-on letters which were perfect. You can make a set with your die cutting machine and I did consider doing that but in the end I opted for cheap and easy and the stick on letters I used were exactly that. The process of adding the letters to make the words only took a few minutes.
STAGING THE WAGON FOR CHRISTMAS DECOR
Once the paint had dried on the wagon railings I was excited to stage the wagon! I used two layers of Buffalo Snow inside the bed of the wagon. The snow is topped with three faux snow covered Christmas Trees. There is a string of white lights lining the inside railing which is hard to see in the pictures but it is really pretty lit on our hearth in the evenings.
MAKING THE BOW
How can you get through Christmas without making bows? I love making them and using them for decor during the holiday season. These black and white and red and black buffalo ribbons I found at Oriental Trading were perfect for our Christmas Tree Wagon decor.
I layered the ribbons as seen above, prior to making the bow so the colors would be better intertwined.
Each side of the bow had 5 loops prior to tying it together and fluffing it out. This is what I use for Bow Making and I love it.
This gorgeous set of Lanterns also came from Oriental Trading. I styled them with the same cute buffalo check ribbon for the Fireplace this Christmas season.
Each bow is made with 5 loops on each side for a total of 10 loops. I used floral wire to make the bow and attach it to the lantern.
