Flat Iron Steak and Gravy

I love creating recipes with the least amount of ingredients possible without sacrificing flavor. This is one of those recipes with only 5 ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. Flat Iron Steak
  • 2 cans (10 oz.) Beef Gravy, I use this brand
  • 1 pkg. sliced Portobello mushrooms (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Optional Ingredients

  • Add a package of onion soup mix if your family enjoys those tiny little tasty onions and the flavor they add.
  • Cut up a small onion or bell peppers to complement the mushrooms if you like.
  • Marinade the steak for 30 minutes before cooking in any of these sauces; soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce or Italian dressing.
  • Round steak may be substituted in this recipe for the flat iron steak.

I use two cans of beef gravy so the steak and mushrooms will be completely covered while cooking. My hubby loves to have enough gravy for his mashed potatoes too.

Directions

Step 1

Insert a disposable Crockpot liner into your crock for easy clean-up.
Set the temperature to the lowest setting.

I serve my Crockpot Flat Iron Steak and Mushroom Gravy on top of a bed of Homemade Mashed Potatoes.

Serve a complete meal with two vegetables, meat, and bread to stretch a small amount of the meat. We like mashed potatoes and green beans along with dinner rolls with our meal.

  1. This is making me hungry. I have not had a crock pot meal like this in a while since my crock pot stopped working. Not good for the Fall – got to get a new one.The recipe looks easy and tasty!!! I like gravy on my potatoes too!

  2. OK – I’ve found what I’m going to make for lunch Sunday! The family eats lunch with us after church every Sunday. We’ve grown way too big to go out to eat, plus I hate waiting for a table that’s large enough to hold all of us. I always cook the meat or poultry in the crockpot and I don’t like to get in a rut and make the same thing every week. I have a feeling that everyone in the family is going to love this one. Thanks!

    1. It really is great for Sunday dinner because it’s ready so fast in just a couple hours. Sunday dinners at home are the best anyway. I know what you mean about waiting for a table on Sunday with a large crowd.

    1. Carlee, it really is considered southern comfort food to have meat with gravy and mashed potatoes. It’s one of those stick-to-the-ribs meals that leaves a smile on your face too.

We enjoying hearing from you!
