The Hot Dog Tour stops at Mutt’s Amazing Hot Dog’s in Oklahoma City
Join my husband, Stacy and I as we enjoy the best local hot dogs on our journeys! Mutt’s was a great stop on our Hot Dog Tour.
We had the opportunity recently to visit Oklahoma City on a business trip. Of course I saw it as an opportunity to try the best local dogs! We were not disappointed with Mutt’s Amazing Hot Dogs. It may even be our current favorite stop so far on our hot dog tour! That’s some big honor with us!
“At Mutts Hot Dogs, we start with a kosher, all beef frank, add a toasted-to-perfection bun and then shoot for the stars with amazing sauces and toppings galore!” We give them 5 stars on a 5 star scale for the flavor of the dog, it’s all beef (our favorite) and it is NOT boiled (Just say No to boiled hot dogs!)
Everything is better with bacon, right? Well how about wrapping a hot dog with bacon, add cheese, Dijon mayo, sautéed onions & Pablano peppers, and then wrap it all up with a tortilla shell and toast it on the grill! This was my personal favorite of the 4 dogs we selected.
We had to take one for the team folks, we ordered more food than we could possibly eat but it was just necessary for the taste test! You understand, right? Enjoy these photos of the amazing dogs at Mutt’s!
As a southerner, I was raised eating hot dogs with either slaw or chili. Occasionally we might get wild and add both at one time! Do it!! The Sweet Caroline at Mutt’s comes with mustard, chili, slaw and green onions, a perfect flavor explosion combination.
Don’t knock it until you try it! You might like it!
Although it isn’t visible in the above photo, that dog is also wrapped in bacon!
The S’noran Dog is a delectable combination of a bacon-wrapped dog, mayo, mustard, chipotle ketchup, cheddar-jack cheese, sliced avocado, pico de gallo and pinto beans! This dog was fantastic! Grab a fork, you may need it.
Let’s talk fried pickles for a second. They are usually the slices, right? Not at Mutt’s, they have battered and deep fried dill pickle spears which they serve with their special pink sauce. Very tasty with a nice crunch!

When I first started reading the menu online prior to deciding to go to Mutt’s, it was the Duck Fat Fries which intrigued me. They are fried in duck fat, then tossed with parmesan cheese and truffle oil! If that isn’t enough, they are homestyle fries too! If I lived closer, these would be my go-to fries!
The dog in the basket with the fries was the Special on the day we were there. It’s not on the menu per se but you can create your own anytime. This one is smothered with battered and fried onions, feta cheese and a few more tasty toppings.
We will definitely visit Mutt’s again, when we are in the area of Oklahoma City. The vibe inside the restaurant is a ’50’s style theme which is fun and the staff was very friendly. Even though it’s like a fast food restaurant, they do bring your food to the table. I looked around to see what other people were eating and noticed that the Duck Fat fries were very popular. Regular fries are an option on the menu also.
If you’re a fan of gourmet dogs and you are going to be anywhere near Mutt’s, head on over, we recommend it!

I am going to add the Varsity to the tour soon. I made pics when we visited recently. We are having so much fun stopping in at the hot dog joints everywhere!

This had me salivating! Wow, I wanted to eat every picture of a hot dog I saw! Also, I think I would go just for the fried pickles! Yum! Thanks for sharing with us at the #HomeMattersParty!

Ok, I love the idea of a Hot Dog tour!! I hope Chicago is included, because we have some of the best! Although truthfully those photos above have my mouth watering!

That looks amazing! I think my favourite is the S’noran Dog. My mouth is watering just looking at these pictures. Thanks for sharing! #ConfessionsLinkUp
Erlene says
I’ll take one of each of those please 🙂 You make me want to do a hot dog tour in California or maybe I should do a burrito tour.
Shirley Wood says
Go for it Erlene! Burrito’s or Hot Dogs either one will just be fun for your family to visit the different places! We don’t have burrito restaurants in Ga., Taco Bell doesn’t count, does it?

Yum! I’ve always piled slaw and chili on my hotdogs and I always buy all beef hot dogs. Mutt’s sounds like an amazing place to eat. I’ve enjoyed your hot dog tour so much, Shirley! Of course, the Cordele Pool Room is my all time favorite – it just tastes like home! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Shirley Wood says
We share your love for the all beef dog. We have a couple of different favorite brands. My bff recently gave me a whole bunch of coupons for one of our favorite brands and I stocked the freezer for the summer!
We may stop back by the Cordele Pool Room when we go back to ride the Sam Shortline again. 🙂

Of course you had to order so many! It was in the name of research! You were totally an innocent victim!
My tummy is rumbling with hunger now! But since I’m in Fl, don’t think I’ll be there by lunch.

We were laughing at ourselves for ordering so much food! We couldn’t eat it all but we did finish off the dogs we enjoyed the most! They were all good though. We will go eat at Mutt’s again, the next time we are in the area.
I got a hot flash when you mentioned Florida! I think I’ll turn my air down a bit!
