My Favorite Super Easy Fruit Smoothie

Are you a ‘smoothie person’? I have never been, never! I see a lot of smoothie recipes being shared on Pinterest but don’t even bother to check them out. Well, this is supposed to be the year of better health and organization at our house. It wasn’t a New Year’s Resolution, just a commitment my husband and I made together. We are in the middle of this year (WoW) and it is time for a check up.

We are not doing all that we could do. There, I said it. The first step is admitting that you have a problem, right. We could be more diligent with the better health aspect of our commitment. We are doing very well with the organization aspect, mostly because our house is for sale.

We have changed some of the things we eat, the way we prepare food and are working diligently on adding more fresh fruits and vegetables to our regular menu. I have even recently been able to convince my husband to have a beef patty with no bread! You can find some of our snack food recipes here which includes an especially yummy Black-Eye Peas Salsa.  I have an ongoing Summer Salad Series on the blog, sharing all the best summer salad recipes and ideas I can possibly find with my readers and finding more healthy options for our own menu.

I did take the smoothie plunge and guess what, we both like it! I know some people are turned off by the idea of mixing various food items together which was probably our hold up. I even Pin smoothie recipes on Pinterest now. You can follow my Beverage Board here.  Our new favorite breakfast is a Frozen Fruit Smoothie!

Without further ado, here is my new Favorite Super Easy Fruit Smoothie Recipe.

Frozen Tropical fruit for smoothies. intelligentdomestications.comI purchase this big bag of mixed fruit from Sam’s. I have also purchased frozen mixed fruit at Target in smaller bags. Our local grocery stores tend to carry each different kind of frozen fruit in individual bags which can quickly become too expensive.

Tropical Fruit Smoothie. Place the ingredients in the blender. intelligentdomestications.comHow can it get any easier? Nothing to peel, just place all of the ingredients into the blender and turn that baby on!

I highly recommend that you keep your ‘smoothie glasses’ in the freezer! We love to sip our smoothies from frosted mason jar glasses.

Tropical Fruit Smoothie

2 cups frozen Tropical fruit

1/2 cup vanilla or plain Greek yogurt

1 cup orange juice

1 Tbsp. honey

Put all ingredients into the blender. Pulverize until your desired consistency. If the mixture is too thick, add a bit more orange juice and continue to blend until it reaches the desired consistency. I don’t actually measure the hone, it takes too long to get it off the spoon, I just squeeze it straight on top of the fruit before blending.

Pour into frosted glasses. Serve and enjoy!

Are you a smoothie person? What is your favorite?

  1. Creating smoothies is fun! This sounds great for summer. Thanks for sharing at the Healthy Tuesday hop!

  2. Oh, the frozen cup tip is great! My daddy used to keep frozen cups for his Coca-Colas when I was little, and my papa kept the mason jars frozen for his water =)

  3. I like smoothies but usually I find all the prep time awful.. ok I know that sounds lazy! But this is great, I never though to use frozen fruit!

    1. I’ve made them with fresh fruit as well, there is a lot of prep. That would keep me from making them often. I much prefer the frozen fruit. It makes the smoothie nice and cold too!

  4. I happen to love smoothies! I’ve shared a couple of recipes on my blog and have many pinned! I, too, use frozen fruit because I don’t like to add ice and dilute it.

The yogurt and honey sound awesome. I normally use unsweetened almond milk (30 calories a cup), but I will change it up a bit and try your yummy tropical recipe! Sounds divine! Pinning!

PS – Frozen bananas + a little bit of almond milk = faux ice cream! 🙂 (Add to blender, of course)

We enjoying hearing from you!
