Yoder’s Deitsch Haus Restaurant Montezuma Georgia

If it’s rib-sticking, home cooked style food you desire in large portions you’ll want to make plans to visit Yoder’s Deitsch Haus Restaurant in Montezuma Georgia also known as the Mennonite Restaurant.

Yoder’s is a regular day trip outing for us and I have nothing but kind words for this little off the beaten path restaurant. Let the pictures tell you what to expect.

Shredded roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes and gravy, turnip greens, creamed corn, yeast roll and sweet tea.

Yoder’s is located well off the beaten path in Montezuma, Ga. among Mennonite farmlands. You can expect Mennonite style food with a southen flair served in large abundant portions cafeteria style. All food choices are priced separately and hand dipped right before your very eyes by the friendly staff.

Grab a tray where the line begins at the aptly stocked optional salad bar.

A nice selection of homemade desserts is next. Go ahead and plan to save room for a slice of pie, it’s well worth it. You’ll find Cherry, Custard, Pecan, Blueberry, Shoofly, Apple, Peanut Butter and more. If your preference is a slice of cake, don’t worry those are available also. Take your time to enjoy dessert along with a cup of coffee which your waitress will be happy to provide.

The portion sizes are huge so plan on asking for a to-go box and you’ll  look forward to left overs later.

Your to-go box isn’t the only thing you can take home from Yoder’s. They have a nice little bakery located inside the restaurant where you will find homemade breads, cakes, pies, doughtnuts and sweet rolls.

The homemade cake shelves in the bakery are well stocked with a nice selection of favorite cakes such as Red Velvet, Key Lime, German Chocolate, Caramel and more.

It’s hard to turn down those made from scratch Cinnamon Rolls piled with icing and topped with pecans!

Cookies, Brownies, Doughnuts and a variety of homemade breads area available as well as whole pies. The amount of selections available in the bakery vary depending on the time of year you visit. During the holiday season, the shelves will be fully stocked with lots of choices.

We have our route memorized and it’s such a pleasant drive through small country towns with views of farmlands, orchards and pastures along the way. Google maps will help you find your way.

After enjoying your meal, walk around the small gift shop located next door to the restaurant or visit the little goat housed out front on the lawn. Yoder’s make a nice day trip in Georgia with a filling and tasty reward to keep you satisfied for the ride back home.
