Autumn Tablescape In The Kitchen

An Autumn Table place setting with a pumpkin bowl

There is something about creating a pretty Autumn Tablescape in the Kitchen that just seems to make the home feel more warm and cozy.

Our Autumn Tablescape is in the breakfast nook which is where we tend to enjoy most of our meals. It is adjacent to the kitchen and tends to be the gathering place when family and friends are in the house.

With an open floor plan, there is also a good view of the TV from the breakfast nook which everyone loves. We enjoy watching the Andy Griffith show while eating supper most weekday evenings.

Simple Autumn Table Centerpiece with candles and pine cones

Autumn Table Centerpiece

The centerpiece for an everyday table needs to be attractive but simple, not fancy. My guys tried to get me to just place a stack of napkins into the dough bowl. They are so funny! They will be experiencing some Fall Feels when I light the candle for our spaghetti dinner this week!

My little wooden dough bowl came from a Christmas arts and crafts sale last year and it is the perfect size for this round table. I simply added a candle, along with a collection of clean pine cones from my craft supply and a couple of faux fruit pieces. It brings a little touch of outdoors inside.

Autumn tea glasses from the grocery store create a fun fall feel for everyday use.

Autumn Theme Glasses

My Autumn print tea glasses came from the grocery store a few years ago. I admired them but didn’t buy them when I first saw them. I kept my eye on these glasses and would stop and hold it and think about and put it back all throughout the season. But when Fall became the holiday season and they went on clearance for .50¢ each, I swooped up 12 of them for Thanksgiving that year!

Usually when summer fades into fall, I pull these out of storage and run them through the dishwasher then add them to the cabinet for everyday use. Just using these helps create those Fall feels in the home.

An Autumn Table Plate Stack

A simple plate stack we can enjoy in Autumn colors brings those Fall feels to the dinner table. I began with a solid green round place mat to anchor the setting. Gold chargers are perfect for Fall and those are topped with Melamine pumpkin dinner plates. Then finally an orange pumpkin soup bowl and we are ready for dinner.

Pumpkin Bowls Give Me Autumn Feels

The trick to acquiring seasonal table decor supplies is to shop the clearance sales. It isn’t a trick as much as a necessity if you plan to keep changing your decor.

I first used those adorable Pumpkin soup bowls in this Farmhouse Fall Tablescape a few years ago. It was time to bring them back out. I am looking forward to filling those bowls with some Crockpot Taco Soup very soon!  Those are a Hobby Lobby find.

Pumpkin Melamine Dishes for An Autumn Table

Yes these beautiful Pumpkin pattern dishes are Melamine and they are dishwasher safe. There were a TJMaxx find so you know they were very affordable. Don’t you love that store! I feel in love with these from the moment we first met. It was happenstance that the tablecloth and the dishes have such similar patterns. It looks like they were made using the same pattern.

Pumpkin Print Tablecoth

The Pumpkin print tablecloth was on clearance at Walmart for $2! It was a steal I had to have. I know it is very busy but it made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

The rust color napkins actually match another round fall tablecloth I have had for years, also a clearance purchase.

A Rustic Yet Simple Tablescape For Thanksgiving is one of my favorites from recent years. It created all those warm and fuzzy fall feels.

My favorite thing about this Gold and Green Glass & Natural Thanksgiving Tablescape is hard to say because I love so many of the elements. The centerpiece was free, from my yard and the rustic pumpkins give it a very warm feeling.

We may have gone a little overboard on the centerpiece in this Farmhouse Fall Tablescape. We were having so much fun creating the Fall Tablescape though.

Creating Birthday party tablescapes is fun too. Use the team colors you need with ideas from this Blue & Orange Team Colors Tablescape I created for my grandson’s birthday.

One of my personal favorite’s is this super simple Red, White & Blue table setting I created in my kitchen to enjoy though the month of July.

Then there was the time I created this Skeleton Halloween Tablescape. My goodness, what was I thinking!

  2. Shirley, I am with you when it comes to shopping for bargains. I hate to pay full price for anything! I found an Easter plate set at Pier One in the early summer that was marked down 90%! Post season clearance sales are the best! Your breakfast nook tablescape looks so cozy and welcoming. I love the dough bowl centerpiece…I passed on a dough bowl at an antique shop because it was pricey, but now I regret it as I haven’t seen another one since. The plate stack looks great with the coordinating colors of the tablecloth. I’d love to try your crock pot taco soup in one of those cute pumpkin bowls! It’s a pleasure to join you on this hop. Happy Fall!

  3. Very pretty table setting. I don’t have a formal dining room so the farm style table in my kitchen is where I host family and company. I have used a burlap runner, a large tray with pumpkins, gourds and copper votive and a bouquet of faux fall flowers and wheat. Colorful placemats ,plain white dinner plants and salad plates with a fall leaf pattern . Plaid napkins and fall leaf pattern goblets complete the setting and it is left set light this till Christmas. My husband and I ,when no guests eat at the island .

  4. Shirley, I love your beautiful fall tablescape. The tablecloth is so pretty and is perfect for a classic autumn dinner. Your plates were a great find! I am always looking for clearance too! Great job!

  10. If there is one thing that gets me truly excited over Fall it is the pumpkin. I love your use of the pumpkin print in your tablecloth and plates. It brings out a sense of coziness in me when I see them. Probably like picking out the pumpkins from a pumpkin patch farm. I love how you combined them with other natural elements. Such a perfect fall tablescape.

  11. That tablecloth looks like a gorgeous watercolor painting and sets the scene for your pretty tablescape. Your plate stack is a great combination of all of the great fall colors, and yes, those dinner plates do look like they are the same pattern as the tablecloth. I don’t have pumpkin bowls, but I am thinking of all of the hot winter soups that would be perfect served up in those! You certainly have shopped wisely for all of those bargains! Thank you for joining us once again!

  12. Shirley, so nice to have a virtual seat at your table again. I’m with you girlfriend, bee patient, swoop in at the start of clearance sales, and only buy what you love. Sometimes I do splurge on a have to have. But if you’re budget conscious most of the time, a splurge here or there won’t break the bank. People always marvel at how much stuff I have, but it’s been decades of collecting and acquiring.

All that said, I love your festive fall table. Like you, I have a small round table, so I am in total agreement about a simple centerpiece. All the elements of your table come together in perfect fall harmony!

  13. Shirley, you’re so right in that just creating these tablescapes seems to make the home more warm and inviting. I love how you’ve described putting all your elements together over time in a budget-conscious way. I also love that you rotate the use of the seasonal items, that make so much sense vs just displaying them. Your plates and tablecloth are a perfect match! The centerpiece wooden bowl is what I am really loving here. It’s a perfect scale for use on the table. Your guys are funny with saying you should just stack the plates in the bowl, but I bet that could be done quite nicely, for sure! The tie of napkins is a nice touch. I’ve enjoyed this week so much with all the creative tables. Happy Fall!

  14. I love the size of your dough bowl. Wish I could find one just like it. Those are the cutest pumpkin bowls and your plate stack and tablecloth are very attractive. The cute glasses were definitely a good price!
Shirley, I enjoyed your autumn tablescape.

  15. Beautiful tablescape! You were so smart to wait until those glasses went on sale. At $.50 each, you got an incredible deal! Love the dishes that you used and also your colorful tablecloth. I can’t resist a dough bowl and wish I had one the size of yours. It looks great filled with fall goodies.

  16. Such a pretty fall table from the tablecloth to your dish stack with the embossed pumpkin bowls! Your dough bowl makes the perfect centerpiece with your pine cones, dried pomegranates and candle. It’s a treat to blog hop with your this week, Happy Fall!
