Our Simple Summer Mantle Decor is mix of summer whites, purple hydrangea and pops of blue with a theme of God and Country.

Bring summer indoors with Simple Summer Mantle Decor. 2016

It’s so very hot here in the deep south, we don’t spend too much time outside in the summer. Instead, it’s pleasure to bring summer indoors with summer decor. After more than 35 years of housekeeping, you’d think I had plenty of home decor and I do but styles change and sometimes we just need a nice change so I was thrilled to participate in the At Home Challenge to bring summer indoors!

First things first, I shopped my home for summer pieces which would fit my theme. After taking stock, I knew I needed a couple of anchor pieces for the hearth. I wanted white because I’ve used shades of red and blue in the rest of the den which I will show you soon, so check back!

At Home Store in Georgia

With a plan in mind, I headed out to the At Home store, grabbed a shopping cart and entered my happy place.

Giant Purple Hydrangea stems in a pretty porcelain chippy white vase bring summer indoors for summer den decor

What screams summer more than pretty purple hydrangea blooms?

I spotted these beautiful giant silk hydrangea on the floral isle and just had to have them! They are so big, I only needed three.

White chippy porcelain vase from the At Home store is the perfect piece for a bunch of giant purple hydrangea

Take a closer look at my new white chippy porcelain vase. I love the versatile color and the details.

A patriotic Norman Rockwell print makes a nice addition to my summer mantel decor

This print of a classic cover from the  Saturday Evening Post June 16, 1917 is entitled Necessary Height.  A favorite artist from American history, Norman Rockwell seems to be showing us a couple of boys  indulging in pretend play during WWI, with one playing a recruiter, (notice the “recruiting poster”) and the other sweating his yet to be reached height requirement.

We picked this piece up from an estate sale a while back and I just knew it fit perfect with my theme and the frame matches our boat paddle.

I used shades of blue and white to achieve my God and Country theme for our 2016 Simple Summer Mantle decor

I just adore my new pair of chippy metal cylinder candle holders in blue.  The candles are battery powered which I love. They blend well next to my small blue glass milk bottles, don’t you think?

We’ve had our Lion and the Lamb figure for many years and used it in various places around the house.

Our 2016 Simple Summer Mantle Decor theme is God and Country

I found the Nothing is Impossible figure among a large selection of tabletop signs in the At Home store. It was exactly what I needed to create balance and continue my theme.

I placed a single floral stem in each blue milk glass bottles, which came from  Cracker Barrel,  to match the cream colored candles and add that pop of color to my summer mantle decor.

White wood with metal roof hex gazebo lantern used for fireplace decor

This white wood with a metal roof gazebo lantern stole my heart the instant I laid eyes on it!

We’ve had the boat paddle for a long time. It was a vacation purchase. We tend to enjoy home decor shopping when we are vacationing. Do you do that?

Wood and metal gazebo lantern from the At Home store for my summer mantle decor

You know what it feels like when you are shopping for something and you don’t know what it is but you know, you’ll know it when you see it? Well that is what I experienced with this gazebo lantern. I actually had something else in my shopping cart and put it back.

I also picked up a package of small natural orbs to place around the battery powered candle in the gazebo lantern.

Our 2016 Simple Summer Mantle

We picked up the large framed print while on vacation last year and it’s found a permanent home above the mantle.  This piece illustrates Isiah 40:31, one of my husband’s favorite verses. We took it down for fall and Christmas decorating.

Be sure to stop back soon for a peek at the rest of our Summer Den Decor. Here in the deep south, the heat of the summer will be with us until late September. I’ll be quite ready to switch to fall decor by then and looking forward to it.
