Our Family Christmas Stockings Tradition began more than forty years ago when the first grandchild was born. My Mom started the tradition and we carry it on.

Mom began the tradition, ‘at Grannies house’ after the first grandchild was born. All of the grown-ups get stockings too. We have come to believe the stockings are more fun than the gifts sometimes! In fact, some years we do the stockings and skip the gifts for the grown-ups.
Everyone loves the Christmas Stocking tradition so much we have never set any rules. We tend to go all out and put all sorts of fun things in our stockings.
The stockings must remain at the Christmas party host home. No one is allowed to take their stocking home! That way we always have what we need. They are only used once per year so they last for years. We use name tags instead of engraving. That is just what works best for us.
All of the kids stockings are the same. They are the plain red and white one’s. It is best that children all have the same thing so no one cries foul and trust me, that can happen!
Because no one is allowed to take their stocking home, it is best to provide small gift bags so nothing small, like valuable gift cards becomes lost. As people empty their stockings they just place each item into the gift bag to go home with them. Easy peasy!
HOW TO STUFF A LOT OF STOCKINGS
Lay all of the stockings out in order.
Start laying the stocking stuffers on top of each stocking. Once you are done, take a look to make sure everyone will be receiving those items you intend for them to receive.
Shop bulk Stocking Stuffers from Oriental Trading where you will find a nice selection of fun stuffers everyone will love. The paddle balls were a big hit in our family with the adults!
