Hosting a Summer Potluck is not just about having your guests bring their best recipes to your party. It’s about how you and your friends can celebrate summer without breaking the budget!
Follow our easy tips to host your summer soiree. We are even offering you a chance to win $20 in Paypal Cash so you can plan your Summer Potluck now!
Keep It Simple Yet Festive
Don’t plan an elaborate menu, location or decor. Just keep it simple by hosting at your home, and using what you have for decor.
You’ll want to be sensitive to your guests budgets also so keep your menu fairly basic.
A salad theme summer potluck is especially easy and would allow some of your guest to share fruits or vegetables from their gardens.
Use what you have for decor like I did in my Simple Patriotic Tablescape. Patriotic decor is perfect for any summer soiree. Grab a few small flags from the Dollar Store and place them around your space for quick frugal decor. If you have any beach or nautical decor pieces, they blend well with Patriotic decor.
Make your own free floral centerpiece. Cut fresh flowers such as hydrangea and display them in any of your vases or even a Mason jar. If you don’t have live flowers in your yard, just ask a friend or neighbor to let you cut a few. Rather than peacock feathers, like we did for my daughter’s wedding, you could stick one of those Dollar store flags into the vase with your flowers.
Provide a variety of flavors of Suddenly Salad and have your guests bring toppings. We served our Broccoli & Cherry Tomato Parmesan Pasta Salad with a choice of toppings including; grilled chicken, tuna, bacon and sliced boiled eggs.
Do what I did and head out to your Publix grocery store where you’ll find everything you need in one place. My Publix carries a huge variety of Suddenly Salads. What is your favorite thing about Publix? Mine is the fabulous customer service.
You can make it your own like we did by adding fresh broccoli and cherry tomatoes! Suddenly Salad makes a nice weeknight meal too!

It was fun to use my mother’s vintage milk glass serving bowl for some ‘white’ in our red, white and blue table decor.
