10 Reason’s to Visit Lane Southern Orchards
Our 10 Reason’s to Visit Lane Southern Orchards will convince you to make plans now for a trip to Fort Valley, Ga.
Lane Southern Orchards is located in Fort Valley, Ga. amidst their own orchards which go on for miles on both sides of the road.
Peaches and Pecans
During peach season, you’ll find lots of fresh Georgia peaches grown in the Lane orchards. During pecan season, you’ll find an abundance of fresh pecans.
Gift shop
The gift shop carries a nice variety of unique t-shirts, fashion, accessories and more. The Roadside Market, pictured above, carries a huge variety of fresh produce as well as jams, jellies and such.
They have thought of everything at Lane Southern Orchards to make our visit as comfortable as possible including food, fun, shopping, playgrounds and even a long row of rocking chairs for relaxing.
Peachtree Cafe’
We live close enough to Lane to pop in from time to time to visit the Peachtree Cafe. Our favorite item on the lunch menu is the shrimp and corn soup. We usually order it along with the salad bar. We have also enjoyed the fried chicken but soup and salad is our favorite. We took my hubby’s parents to Lane for lunch on Father’s Day.
Bakery and Peach Ice Cream
Don’t pass up the peach ice cream! It will be hard to decide which dessert you prefer because the dessert counters are full of enticing treats. Even though I can highly recommend the peach ice cream, I must also suggest you consider the pecan bars. They absolutely melt in your mouth! However, you’re not limited to those two choices, the bakery cases are full of fresh baked selections!
Packing Line Tour
You can even watch the peaches being processed during peach season. The packing line was shut down for a holiday when we visited but you get the idea. Look how clean the peach processing area is! You enter this area from inside the gift shop.
Playground
There is a row of tractors on the playground for the children and children at heart to climb on. If it’s nice outside on your visit, you may enjoy taking your food to the picnic shelter next to the playground.
Swings
Nestled next to Crepe Myrtle and hydrangea is a row of swings just for fun. After enjoying your dinner in the cafeteria, you could enjoy your ice cream dessert on a swing. If you’re taking a break from traveling, sitting on the swing is a nice break from sitting in the car.
The landscape is well manicured and adorned with gorgeous shrubs, and flowers. If it’s travelers rest you need or just a nice day trip in Georgia, Lane Southern Orchards won’t disappoint.
Lane is off the beaten path on Hwy. 96 just outside of Fort Valley in the middle Georgia area.
One of my favorite things about a drive in rural Georgia is all the orchards and farm land. You get to see all of that on your way to Lane.
We always enjoy our visit to Lane and I believe you will too.
