1 13 x 9 " Baking sheet pan
1 Large Sauce pan or Large Microwave safe bowl
1 Spatula
Parchment paper
Knife
Ingredients
6cups Crispy rice cereal
110 oz. pkg. mini marshmallows
3Tbsp. salted butter
2cupsMini M&M's candies, divided
Instructions
1. Prepare a 13 x 9 baking dish or sheet pan with sides with parchment. Be sure to leave some edges of parchment paper outside of the pan so you can easily lift the treats from the pan for cutting. Then spray the paper with non-stick spray.See NOTES for using a different size pan
2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over low heat. When the butter is melted, add the marshmallows and melt, stirring constantly.
3. Remove the saucepan from heat and fold the cereal in quickly. Then fold in1 cup of the candies into the cereal with the spatula.
4. Spray your spatula with non-stick cooking spray and press mixture into the prepared baking dish or sheet pan. Evenly cover the top of the treats with the remaining mini M&M’s and press down gently using your spatula. Cool completely for about 2 hours before cutting into squares to serve.
5. Once your marshmallow treats are completely cooled, cut into about 12 squares to serve.
Microwave Method
Place the marshmallows and butter into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 1 minute on high in the microwave. Stir the mixture vigorously allowing the residual heat to continue melting the marshmallows. Return to the microwave for an additional 30 seconds if needed.
Once you have melted the marshmallows and butter, follow Step 3-5 above.
Notes
If you want thin Rice Krispies treats, use a 13x9 pan or a big sheet pan. You can then use a cookie cutter to make shapes if you are making treats for a special occasion.
If you want nice thick treats, use a smaller baking dish or even a square pan. Cut them smaller because they will be quite thick.
