Supplies for Making A Water Tarp Game
- 5 Tarps 5 ft x 7 ft.ย
- Badminton net poles (tent poles might work too)
- Duck Tape
- Plastic Tarp Stakes
- Box Cutter
- Scissors
I have exactly one picture of how this water tarp game is put together. Sometimes we get busy building things and forget to snap pictures. In this case the pictures predate dinosaurs and couldn’t be found. We made this game quite a few years ago and for some extremely weird reason it had never been shared on the blog. Some of the children seen playing are now teenagers. No joke!

Making the Tarp Target Backdrop
First, lay out the tarp which is going to be the Target Backdrop. You will need a nice big area for your work space.
Place an old torn apart box underneath the spot you will be working to act as your cutting board.
Draw out your shapes of choice to become the Target.
Then cut them open using the Box Cutter to get the hole started then the scissors to finish.
Duck Tape the inner area of each hole. The tape will serve to both draw attention to that hole and reinforce the tarp.
Add point values underneath each hole using different colors of Duck Tape. Three holes is plenty as too many holes will weaken the tarp too much.
Once all your target holes are complete you are ready to attach the Backdrop to the poles.
Roll the ends of the tarp around each pole and secure in place with more Duck tape as shown in photo above.
Now for the fun part, go put your tarp target into the ground!

How To Make The Water Tarp Game Playing Surface
This is the surface area fondly referred to by summer fun lovers of all ages as a homemade slip and slide surface.
Lay out all 4 remaining tarps on the ground close to the backdrop.
Secure the tarps together with Duck Tape.
Use Plastic Tarp Stakes to secure the four corners into the ground
Time to let the fun begin!
Wet the surface with the water hose. Cover the tarp surface with lots of dish soap, be generous.
Turn on the sprinkler and let the fun begin!
