Equipment

  • 1 Baking dish, 9x13
  • 1 Large mixing bowl
  • 2 small microwave safe bowls
  • 1 spoon or offset spatula
  • 1 Spatula, for stirring
  • 1 skewer or toothpick

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 10 oz. bag of marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp butter, unsalted
  • 1 cup of Freeze dried strawberries, crushed
  • 1 cup of Pink candy melts
  • 1/2 cup of White candy melts or Almond bark
  • 2 tsp. coconut oil
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Spray your baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set it to the side.
  • Crush the dried strawberries in a small electric food processor, like this, or using a rolling pin. Place the dried strawberries into a resealable plastic bag and crush with the rolling pin.
  • The first step in making these Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats is to melt the butter and marshmallows together. You can do this in a large microwave-safe bowl or on the stove in a saucepan.
If you’re using the microwave, heat the butter and marshmallows in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until they are completely melted and smooth.
If you’re using the stove, melt the butter over low heat and then add the marshmallows, stirring constantly until they are melted and smooth.
  • Pour the cereal and dried strawberries into the melted marshmallow mixture and stir until it is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture.
You can spray a spatula with non-stick cooking spray to make mixing easier.
  • Make sure to stir gently so that the cereal doesn’t get crushed. Once the cereal is evenly coated, it’s time to transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish and let it cool. Once it’s cooled and set, you can add the creamy strawberry candy frosting.
  • After mixing the Rice Krispies cereal with the strawberry marshmallow mixture, it’s time to press the mixture into a greased baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands to press the mixture down firmly and evenly. Once the mixture is pressed down, let it cool for at least 30 minutes before cutting it into squares and serving.

Decorating the Strawberry Rice Krispies Treats

  • Add the pink candy melts to a small microwave safe bowl and melt at 20 second intervals, stirring between each until they are completely melted. You can use about one teaspoon of coconut oil to thin the melted candies and make them spread easier. Simply stir it into the melted pink candies.
  • Then spread the melted candy coating over the top of the Strawberry Rice Crispies, using the back of a spoon or an offset spatula. Make some pretty swirls in the icing as you spread. The swirls will add a pretty texture to this simple and easy dessert treat.
  • Place the ½ cup white candy melts in the piping bag. Heat in the microwave for 20 seconds. Mash, flip the bag over, and heat for an additional 20 seconds. While that is melting, add in the coconut oil and stir. The coconut oil will melt during the stirring process. If necessary, you can heat about 15 seconds more.
  • Cut a small hole in the tip of your piping bag and draw white candy lines horizontally on top of the pink candy icing. Working quickly, use a skewer or toothpick to draw a line straight down thorough the white icing and then another one straight up. Continue this design until you have covered the top of the rice krispy treats.
  • Place your baking dish loaded with pretty pink and white decorated Strawberry Rice Krispies treats into the refrigerator for about 30 before slicing. This will ensure that the icing is well set and you will get a nice even slices.
  • Slice, serve and enjoy!
