Easter Menu and Recipes
Are you in the market for a traditional Easter Menu and recipes? We are sharing our favorite traditional Easter menu options including recipes.
Like most families, our Easter menu seems to vary little from year to year. We all have family favorites and we don’t stray far from those.
Our Favorite Traditional Easter Menu
Baked Ham
Potato Salad
Pecan Glazed Green Beans
Deviled Eggs
Homemade Yeast Rolls
Classic Watergate Salad
Sour Cream Pound Cake or Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Buttercream Icing
We have been known to throw in a couple more vegetables and maybe even some fried chicken. We miss Mom for lots of reasons, mostly because we loved her so much, but we sure do miss her fried chicken at family gatherings.
Let’s being with the green beans. No casserole here!
Pecan Glazed Green Beans are a pretty addition to your table. The pecans really make this dish extra special.
Do Deviled Eggs make a regular appearance at your family’s Easter Dinners? We have them for Easter, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas. My young granddaughter could eat the whole plate by herself but she has help from her Dad.
I prepare deviled eggs for Easter with a little special touch of color! Find the secret to my Rainbow Deviled Eggs.
Do you prefer sweet relish or dill in your Deviled Egg recipe? Go here for my recipe. I’m not a cook who measures so there was some effort involved in creating the recipe.
When I’m feeling especially domestic in the kitchen, I treat my family to Homemade Yeast Rolls. They are really not hard to make. It’s the waiting time while the dough rises which makes these take longer. They store well, so you can easily make them a day ahead.
Watergate Salad is very popular for Thanksgiving but my family always enjoyed it in the spring and especially along with Easter dinner. The pale green of the pistachio pudding adds a pretty color to the Easter table.
I feel a little like Hank Williams Jr., except my friends can’t really be called rowdy but they sure know how to cook! I’m sharing Potato Salad and Ham recipes from some talented bloggers.

What’s on your Easter dessert menu? We have some old family favorites which show up but we’ve been know to change plans based on pretty much anyone’s request.
A few of our family Easter dessert favorites follow.
The Rainbow Layer Cake is a must do for Easter at least once. The recipe is moist and delicious but it’s a real show stopper with the colors.
This year we are having my Sour Cream Pound Cake, without the glaze. Hopefully I’ll update the photo if I have time. I’m in charge of cooking a few recipes so it will be a busy weekend. The one in the photo was for a Valentine’s dinner thus the sweet glaze and red sprinkles.
Stacy’s Strawberry Cake with Strawberry Buttercream Icing has made many appearances by request. My Dad used to ask Stacy to make it every year for Easter.
Our Easter plans this year will begin by attending church. Then we will all gather at my daughter’s home for the afternoon. Everyone helps to prepare the meal. Most of the cooking is done the day before. After dinner, we will play games inside and out. Cornhole and Ping Pong will turn into a friendly competition. I have it on good authority the Easter Bunny is bringing new jump ropes. Last year the jump rope fun may have gotten a little rough on the ropes.
Are you following us on Instagram? I recently shared my new Galvanized Watering Can Centerpiece which was an easy Mod Podge Dollar Store craft project. It’s perfect for our Easter table and will be enjoyed on our deck table all summer long.

This Easter will be an interesting one. We are having traditional Dim Sum for dinner tomorrow night and then a big family feast on Sunday with turkey and all the trimmings. Thankfully I get a pass and I don’t have to cook a thing!
Looks like a great dinner. WE always do Honeybaked ham on Easter and asparagus. NOM!!! One of my favorite holiday meals.
First of all, I can’t even get over that amazing, multicolored layer cake! That will never happen in our house. Lol. Also, yes we love deviled eggs. One of our faves for any occasion at all. 🙂
