How To Make Reindeer Rice Krispy Treats

Step 1 Prepare your work surface

Prepare your workspace and gather all of the ingredients and tools. I recommend using these disposable counter covers.

Step 2 Unwrap and cut the Rice Krispies

Unwrap your pre-packaged Rice Krispies Treats. Line them up in a little assembly line to create little Christmas Reindeer heads.

Now cut each rice crispy treat into a triangle as shown on the diagram above. Cut off an edge on each side to make the pie shape. Please don’t throw away the scraps, the kids will be happy to eat them.

Step 3 Melt the Chocolate Candy Melts

Begin with half power at 15 seconds. Stir and then keep doing that in 15-second intervals. Once there are only tiny tidbits of the candy remaining, stop microwaving and stir until it all melts with the residual heat.

It is important that you melt chocolate or candy melts on half power in the microwave. The candy can seize and have to be thrown away if it overheats. It is best to go slow.

I only used a good handful of candy melts to make these rice crispy reindeer heads. We only need just enough to coat the mini pretzels and a dab as the glue for each googly eye and nose.

Step 4 Decorate the Rice Krispy Treats

It is time to decorate the rice crispy treats and it will only take a few minutes. If you have lined them up in an assembly line, this will go quickly. The kids can help.

Add the candy coated ears

Dip each mini pretzel into the melted chocolate to coat it, tap to release excess chocolate and place it onto the top corner of your cut rice crispy treat. Repeat the process until you have added all of the ears to your reindeer heads.

I used a small spatula to drip the chocolate onto each googly eye.

Add the candy eyes

Use a tiny dab of melted chocolate on the back of each candy eye to hold them into place on the reindeer face.

Add the reindeer nose

Dip the edge of each mini-M&M into melted chocolate and place it onto the peak of the rice krispies treat as the nose.

Let your reindeer dry and set

Allow your Reindeer Rice Krispies dessert bars to sit for a while to allow the candy to harden and his ears, eyes and nose to stay in place.

You are done making Christmas Rice Krispies Treats!

It is this simple. Cut the rice Krispy treats into triangles. Stick on some chocolate pretzel ears, googly eyes and a red candy nose. Super easy no-bake Christmas dessert.

How to store candy-coated Rice Krispies treats

Store your Christmas Reindeer Rice Krispies treats in an airtight container at room temperature on the counter for up to 3 days. That won’t last that long because they will all be eaten quickly.

You can make these a day or two in advance and then store them in an airtight container until your event.
