Welcome to the Merry Monday Link Party #56
Bidding farewell to May is at the top of my to-do list! I’m not trying to wish my life away by any means! May was extremely busy this year. We went to two weddings, a funeral and also to help our daughter and son-in-law move. We traveled to Marietta, Ga., Pooler, Ga. and Monroe N.C., all in the month of May! Whew! My Mom’s only sibling passed away after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. Uncle Leon, 82, was a Korean war veteran. Because his funeral was full military honors, I wanted to learn about the flag folding ceremony. I’ve added a video to my You Tube Channel about the folding of the American flag, you can view it here. The gun salute and the playing of taps will give you chills but it’s the flag folding ceremony which touched me the most.

Thanks for the party! I hope you have a great first week of June! Can’t believe it’s June already. The flag folding ceremony is something special to watch. I remember when it was done at my father’s funeral, I know it only took a couple of minutes, but it felt like time stood still. Special, indeed.
Shirley Wood says
Oh I agree, it does seem like that flag folding ceremony goes on for a very long time but probably only takes a few minutes. One of the most moving ceremonies I’ve ever seen by far. Thanks for partying with us Beverly!

Hey I saw you visited Monroe, NC. That is my neck of the woods. Not much to see there, but I like when I see other bloggers so close to home. Thanks for another party and hope June is a happy month for you.
Shirley Wood says
Michelle, my aunt and uncle have always lived in Monroe, gosh, more than…well a LOT of years. It’s grown up so much since I last visited! It’s such a small world, isn’t it! We actually had dinner one evening at a Quincey’s restaurant (it was Mother’s Day and all other restaurants were packed). I haven’t seen a Quincey’s in many years. It was good! June is already starting out with good news and great possibilities.
